The Office - Time to Wrap it Up?

Jame Spader is also being floated as Charlie Sheens replacement, so clearly he is winning.

Cathrine Tate was on Doctor Who, she would be a great fit too.

It seems to me that the best idea would be to promote Ed Helms or Craig Robinson to the boss's job and then replace their position in the company with a new co-worker, instead of trying to do another "horrible boss."

In a word, yes. We haven't watched since Jim and Pam's wedding. I don't even remember what season that was, and my husband and I often comment, 'Remember when The Office was good before that?'

Not enough for us to care anymore, as opposed to when it was DVR, watch, repeat, and and can't miss.

I was a big fan of The Office through the end of season 5, which I thought was a high point in the series, particularly the Michael Scott Paper arc. But I really lost interest halfway through the following season. The short stretch of episodes where Michael was dating Pam's mother was the first time I thought to myself that things were going downhill, and then the hour long "Pam gives birth" episode rolled around... and I bailed. There's funny-uncomfortable and then there's just plain uncomfortable, which is what I found that particular "very special" episode to be. I gave it another chance over the summer and watched the episodes I hadn't seen, thought they were largely unfunny, and decided I'd had enough.

On the other hand, Parks & Recreation, a show that is essentially a mimic of The Office's style, is still really funny. Maybe not as good as The Office in its prime... but it's close.
