The Most Disliked ST Movie, 2023 Edition...

I'll save Beyond; loved Sofia Boutella as Jaylah.

And I'll give my next point to ST09, which is comfortably the best movie remaining for me.

STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE - 0
STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER - 0
STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 0
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 0
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0
STAR TREK (2009) - 1
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS - 0

Glad to see Beyond saved definitely the best of the Kelvin films.
This is getting a little harder to choose now, can't say any are particularly good, but I enjoy elements of them more than the overall whole. If that makes any sense?

I'll vote for The Motion Picture. By no means good but it has my favourite version of the Enterprise and has my favourite musical score.

STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE - 1
STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER - 0
STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 0
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 0
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0
STAR TREK (2009) - 1

Another vote for "The Motion Picture" for me. It had an intriguing plot and some very epic moments. And that ending was classic Trek.

STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 0
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 0
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0

I most certainly cannot vote for the bottom three movies yet. I'm not in desperation mode at this time.

I'll vote for TMP this round.

While it is a basic reworking of "THE CHANGELING", there's a lot of good in here. I particularly love Kirk and Scotty's tour of seeing the new Enterprise... she was GORGEOUS!!!!! (And I personally think we could have gotten a few more minutes of seeing her.)

It was a solid ST story, too.

STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 0
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 0
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0

I'll save TMP for it's fascinatingly bizarre costumes, and that insanely visceral Sonak death.

And I'll give my point for the next round to Star Trek '09. Both Kelvin-verse films just blow these other four out of the water for me.

STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER - 0
STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 0
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 0
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0
STAR TREK (2009) - 1

One more for 09, for a surprisingly effective way of connecting a reboot to the greater Trek multiverse.

STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 0
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 0
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0
STAR TREK (2009) - 3
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS - 0

While I credit ST 09 for reviving interest in the franchise again... that's all I can say for it. I refuse to be the one to save it.

My vote this round goes to GENERATIONS. There's a lot of good stuff in here, and it holds more meaning as I've gotten older.

I'll save 09. It did a brilliant job resurrecting the flagging franchise, and Nimoy's appearance as Spock is the cherry on top,.

In the new list, I'll vote for GEN first. It has the dodgy ending for Kirk, but I was always quite fond of it. Well, until Picard went into the Nexus.

The Ent-D looks amazing here too.

Into Darkness!

I could maybe see the argument for Generations too, there are things I like about it. But Into Darkness was great! I remember walking out of that theater with my family and saying "this is what movies should be!" It was such a satisfying summer blockbuster.

My vote this time if for The Final Frontier. In this case, I like the start of the film, the scene in Yosemite National Park, Sybok coming out of the heat haze to give comfort to people struggling, the three ambassadors (another outing for David Warner). What I don't like very much is the actual story which seems very familiar, a repetition of things we've seen before (even if it does give us the great line "What does God need with a starship?"). What really gets my vote is the music. It was rewatching TFF when I noticed for the first time just how good Star Trek music can be, and which made me go out and specifically buy ST music.

I was having some difficulty in deciding which of the remainders contains the most bits that I like (and the least annoyances) and would possibly want to watch right now, and then I remembered Todd Bryant's arms and chest - so that's a vote for "The Final Frontier" :klingon:
(I also think it's the most coherent film out of this lot, and has a very 'Star Trek' theme despite being ham-fisted in places)

And The Final Frontier is saved, by virtue of not being as boring as Generations, and also because I rather like the three ambassadors, especially the Romulan who is young enough, and new enough, to still be optimistic. And of course for the immortal "What does God need with a starship?", which is actually a pretty good question, come to think of it.

I'll go ahead and vote Generations in the next round, because its worst flaw is being boring, which still makes it better than the other three. It also gets a tiny boost for those snappy old-time naval uniforms in Worf's promotion ceremony.

ST V was going to be my next round vote if GENERATIONS was saved, because it really had a lot of great character beats, and one of my favorite lines in the franchise... "I need my pain!" I'm glad it was saved.

My vote is for GENERATIONS again, same reasons as before.

I'll give a point to Star Trek 9 as I thought it was hilarious that Data functions as a flotation device.

STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 2
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 1
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS - 0

I'll vote for Generations. It has my second favourite musical score, the destruction of the Enterprise is a gret set piece, and there's always something cool about Kirk and Picard meeting.

STAR TREK: GENERATIONS - 3
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION - 1
STAR TREK: NEMESIS - 0
