Welcome to our bi-yearly 'Most Disliked Episode' games! Now that the 'Least Disliked Episode' games hosted by BlueStuff (who inspired me to create these games, so thank you very much for paving the way) have concluded, we can begin the opposite side of that coin. This game is for the movies, which is the first time we are doing it! Because there are only 13 movies, we are going to play this as if it was a Finals game from a series.

    *RULES*

Give what you consider to be the best/your most favorite movie ONE point, and briefly explain WHY. Be sure to copy and paste the list with your point added. When a movie reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. If 48 hours without a vote passes, the movie currently leading in points will be eliminated, and a new round will begin. And enjoy!

My first vote goes to STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN.

Probably the easiest vote I've ever done, this movie truly is the gold standard for the franchise. It has everything... a great villain, great plot, great action, great emotion.

Spock's death scene never fails to make me shed a few single man tears. Also has one of my favorite quotes ever. (Holds even greater meaning as I've gotten older.)

"He's not really dead. As long as we remember him."

There's three that I could go for first. I guess I'll start with TUC. I think it's the clear best of the original cast movies, by a mile. A fantastic wrap up for that crew.

I always credit TNG with hooking me on Star Trek, and I often forget that it was seeing TUC in theaters that had me chattering so much about it at home that someone in my family finally said "why don't you watch the show?" At that time, I had no idea Star Trek was also a show!

Then they went on to tell me on the show, it was all different characters, and I said "that's stupid!" but sat down to watch the rerun of TNG: "The Game" anyway, and it's been obsession since then.

    I love the movies. :techman:

I'll go obvious and vote for TWOK. Still just as tense and bittersweet no matter how many times I've watched it over the years. Spock! :(

It's The Search For Spock for me - my absolute favourite Trek film! There's so much to see, and it opens up the Trek universe so much - Vulcan "mysticism" (and their beautiful clothing and jewellery), starships galore (and Spacedock!), civilian fashion, Klingon 'Pippi Longstocking' hair-dos, Robin Curtis Saavik, Stealing the Enterprise, Janice Rand (I know Grace Lee Whitney's not credited as such, but it's what I choose to believe), Grissom's theme (all the music, in fact), Uhura vs Mr Adventure, and the final scene with the return of Spock to name but a few of the many, many highlights. :adore: :adore: :adore:

I'll save The Wrath of Kahn. It might be a bit overrated, but it has good reason for it. it's just that good. Love everything about this film, the look, the atmosphere, the special effects, the emotions. I can never get bored with this film.

    My next vote is TUC.

It was a great sendoff for the TOS crew. Great story, great villain. Christopher Plummer was just an excellent Klingon.

The Search For Spock again for me for the same reasons as before, and also because I feel the characters - our crew - really come alive when they begin to defy regulations in order to save Spock. They all have something to do (although I'd've liked more for Uhura and Chekov), and they DO it! They're no longer the stilted automatons of TMP and TWOK - instead they act like actual people: emotional, flawed, relatable.

TUC this time. Brilliant performances from the cast, and it was the perfect sendoff for TOS.

It seems to me the TOS movies will easily leave this list before the TNG movies. Except, I think, V. But I also think that movie is unfairly derided. The big 3 (Shatner, Nimoy and Kelley) + Lucknbill (Sybok) 's acting is awesome. It has its problems, but the acting is tip top. Also the Klings are awesome. Trek never got so muscular actors again. Biceps are important.

    So I vote V

I love the warmth and humor of The Voyage Home -- it's always been my second-favorite of the TOS movies. Sometimes my first. And it makes good use of the whole ensemble.

    Notable quotes:
    "Well, double-dumbass on you!"
"Maybe the whale is talking to that man."
"I love Italian. And so do you."
    "Too much LDS at Berkeley."
"No, I was born in Iowa. I just work in outer space."
"I think it's across the bay, in Alameda."
"Name: Chekov, Pavel. Rank: Admiral." (beatific smile)

I could go on. But my personal favorite was, and is: "Everybody remember where we parked!" My entire friend circle, for years afterward, were incapable of pulling into a parking spot without dropping that one.

I am sure Generations won't be picked in this round, because, in the influential words of Mr. Plinkett, "it's the stupidest movie ever made" so I am wasting my vote in this round on GEN, while rewatching
