There's some justice for this episode:

TNG: "The Battle"​

It's cornball at times, convenient in others, typical Wesley prop-up faff, but a good revenge theme that does the Ferengi a little justice as chaotic-evil villains, and making the Ferengi a bit more wide-ranged than just mustache-wearing cliche of the week villains (moohahaha, hoo-mahn!), which for season 1 standards is still a step in the right direction no matter how clumsy it feels at times.

Loved the full-viewscreen vantage point season 1 used to show outer space, anomalies, for this episode the Ferengi, etc. The directors that use this style make it a +1 for me automatically.

The Ferengi takeover of someone's mind is promptly forgotten in later episodes, but kudos for trying to wiggle in Ferengi legalese in using illegal technology... again, widening their range - even if later episodes don't use them consistently. Fortunately, DS9 did a better job so it's all not that bad...

It's cornball at times, convenient in others, typical Wesley prop-up faff, but a good revenge theme that does the Ferengi a little justice as chaotic-evil villains, and making the Ferengi a bit more wide-ranged than just mustache-wearing cliche of the week villains (moohahaha, hoo-mahn!), which for season 1 standards is still a step in the right direction no matter how clumsy it feels at times.

Loved the full-viewscreen vantage point season 1 used to show outer space, anomalies, for this episode the Ferengi, etc. The directors that use this style make it a +1 for me automatically.

The Ferengi takeover of someone's mind is promptly forgotten in later episodes, but kudos for trying to wiggle in Ferengi legalese in using illegal technology... again, widening their range - even if later episodes don't use them consistently. Fortunately, DS9 did a better job so it's all not that bad...

It showed the entire plot and showed every clue that was needed to solve the plot. Why?! WHY???!!! Leave some mystery, trailer voice guy!

Correct. Voyager ends in 2378, Nemesis is '79, Lower Decks so far has been '80 through '82, Prodigy has been in '83 (excluding complications :bolian:), and Picard jumps ahead to 2399 through 2401

I'm always shocked to rewatch old Trek trailers and see how much they revealed. The one for "In Purgatory's Shadow" includes the reveal from the end about Bashir having been replaced by a Changeling! Yet I don't remember ever feeling "that ruined it."

Maybe that's why Trek is endlessly rewatchable... with those trailers, you already knew the whole story the first time seeing it, and it was about the details of how it played out. It was never really "new." :bolian:
 
"Justice" is justly famous. There are few season one episodes that are more fun to watch. From the bizarre structure of the story to the crazy costumes to the "I guess maybe we just have to let them kill one of our kids?" dilemma to all the memorably insane quotes ("Any hat")

And I do love the design of the Edo God, that was actually good!

The progenitor of Q. It's ghastly to contemplate, but given Trelane had a nucular family and all, or perhaps they were presented as such for the sake of Kirk's viewpoint (which would be even more demeaning forward Trelane), perhaps Trelane really is Q's pa. Canonically, nothing's said. A novel or two probably provides six different answers, however... :devil:

Very true and I agree, but nowadays the teasers don't even hint at the story. (Usually because there is none or it's crap but that's depending on the show and how many details they want to give away... but that's not important right now. :D )

But, yeah, a happy medium for this medium would be nice...

Holy cow patties, nothing got worse than those! It's like why humanity invented clothes, not just to keep people warm and looking suave, but to tease the coming attractions... eh, so to speak... We all knew Spock would be recovered (the makers didn't exactly try and they didn't really need to), but they give it away quickly that Kirk steals the Enterprise and then, oops, has to destroy it in what were by far the best bits.

Then again, seeing for real in the theater still gave a gut-punch*... no less so than when "Generations" came out and I was asking my closest friends for all the juicy details, which I was antsy to hear but didn't believe anyway. Which may have been a subconscious defensive mechanism at the time, but at least the ship gets destroyed in every subsequent movie or nearly so, so it all works out...

* in an alternate timeline, what if they hadn't primed the audience with "Guess what folks, the ship's going to be destroyed!" and people saunter into the theater and then afterward the psychotherapy/counseling industry gets a fresh boost of revenue from hordes of irate and despondent viewers... if not the ER to treat all the coronaries people had due to the shock of the self destruct scene...
 
My code of honor requires me to save this next episode, or there is no justice...

Which is why "PAST PROLOGUE" is being saved next. It gave us Garak. That alone is reason enough.
