I'm voting to save Up the Long Ladder. I don't think it's the worst episode, yes the Riker romance is sub-Kirk rubbish and the Bringloidi are offensive Irish stereotypes, but certainly no more than the inhabitants of Fair Haven. That said, the basic story isn't a terrible and the episode's message keeps firmly with the ideals of the show.

I'm giving a point to "The Loss". Two-Dimensional aliens is actually a very cool concept, something I'd like to see again in the future. Analogous to how we perceive characters like Q (who exists on a different plane of existence), who have powers we don't understand.

Plus, Troi being whiny and bitchy about losing her powers is > mind-rape.

That you're allowed to murder someone if they're your clone and you didn't give anyone permission to clone you (apparently a botched abortion metaphor, which reads as abortion = killing a baby in an incubator), or that eugenics rocks because it allows you to make use of dumb Irish immigrants by using them as breeding stock?

It is a horrible story and it fails on every possible level.

It's been a while since I've seen it, and frankly I'd forgotten about the cloning aspect, but I remembered it as different cultures coming together to help each other. As I say, it's been a long time since I've seen it, so I'm probably remembering it wrong.

That's why I voted for "The Loss". For the remaining episodes, in case some of you haven't seen them in a while, here is the plot breakdown:

Code of Honor - Racist episode about aliens who think its cool to kidnap people.
Lonely Among Us - Picard gets possessed, then makes a "P" appear on the helm. Actually, not that bad, and probably my next pick.
Shades of Gray - Clip Show.
Up the Long Ladder - Racist Irish stereotypes and eugenics gone wrong.
The Loss - My current vote, because it takes away Troi's useless empathic skill.
Violations - Mind-Rape.
Imaginary Friend - Alien child causes mischief. She's also kinda a bitch.

I'll go ahead and give that point to "Lonely Among Us". So there are these aliens that want to join the Federation, but they hate each other. Mild hilarity ensues. Also, Picard is possessed then somehow gets sent to "The Cloud", because he confused Data the Android with "Android (TM)" the Operating System. Wrong Cloud, Jeannie.

Meanwhile, one of the aliens eats the other alien.
