The Mini-Series You Would Like To See

Buck Rogers, in the 23rd Century.

21st century astronaut adjusts to life in the future. Could be a twentieth century whale botherer though.

Fuck me...I'm glad some of you aren't in charge of the franchise!

:barf:

I've muttered that under my breath before... but never posted it! :rommie:

Star Trek: Sulu could be a fun, one-off season. George Takei could still do it... it could be set 15-20 years after The Undiscovered Country and it would be great Prime Universe love for the fans. Seems it seemed an obvious spin-off at the time... George was more or less counting on it happening:

It was a substantial idea. There was a huge following for it. And after all, Star Trek VI seemed to have opened the door for an Excelsior television series. But for whatever reason, Paramount didn’t pick up the idea. So despite that massive and heroic effort that was launched by all of the people, and I was absolutely convinced that the audience was there based on the reception of Star Trek VI, the idea didn’t go through. I was absolutely baffled.

I guess looking back, Paramount could only handle one TV show or film series at a time. But I still think a limited run of Sulu would be great.

The Mutiny on the Pegasus

"The Pegasus" is one of my favorite TNG episodes.

The miniseries would include a short story arc about the young Will Riker, his adventures just before and during his posting on the Pegasus.

There would also be an episode or two about the secret phase cloak program, and a bit of history about Pressman and how he got involved in the secret program. And, of course, the origin of that seemingly one-sided treaty, the Treaty of Algeron.

The miniseries would culminate with the mutiny itself.

Epilogue to the show will be a futuristic looking humanoid named Daniels saying 'Computer. End programme'.

Still hoping for Ring Ship. Yonks before Enterprise, maybe undated, I do miss that uncertainty of early trek.

A primitive ship, but not by our standards, exploring the local systems, but not finding much. Not a Star Trek show, but trekverse.

I want I want I want,

Honestly, I would love to see a miniseries that gives closure to the TNG era. Obviously this will never happen since both CBS and Paramount have moved beyond this, but it would be nice to know the final fates of the TNG, DS9, and VOY crews.
Definitely Voyager. What a cheat that final episode was.

Agreed. They should have done a Captain Sulu series instead of Enterprise.

My dream miniseries: A Starfleet Academy series featuring a young Cadet (later Ensign) Jean-Luc Picard.

Basically a coming-of-age story of the young Picard and how his life and outlook evolved during his Academy years, perhaps also showing his first years as a Starfleet officer -the event of "Tapestry" and its aftermath - until he gained his USS Stargazer command. How he evolves from a brash, rowdy & reckless young man to the philosophical, disciplined, by-the-book officer we all knew from TNG.

Also the people who shaped his life during his early years, like Boothby the Gardener, Cadet (later Ensign) Marta Batanides, etc.

An 18th Century pirate ship carrying a cursed amulet finds itself transported to mystical realm peopled by hellish beings that turn out to be Klingons.

They track down the means to escape from the bizarre seas of Kronos and return to Earth with Tales too Zany to be believed by their contemporaries, and they are hung for their piracy.

Season 2 picks up in the twenty first century, as a research ship uncovers an amulet, and is also transported to Kronos. The Klingons are now space faring and the crew use their ingenuity, but ultimately are trapped forever.

Season three gives us a post TNG crew investigating the presence of a transwarp conduit between Earth and Kronos, resolves the three seasons with a revelation about smooth foreheads.

I like this idea, very much. I just wish it had come out around the time of NEMESIS, or so. when people were still aware of TNG, or had cause to be, at least. If this miniseries does come to fruition, though, I just hope they cast a real Frenchman, this time ...

Agreed. Now nearly 15 years have passed since "Nemesis" came out so many folks have forgotten what's TNG all about and what are the status of each character when the story left out (e.g., will Data stays dead or would he 'reincarnated' himself in B-4)?

I guess it's better late than never though. Would love to see Sir Patrick's cameo as an older Picard who reflects on his life or goes back to his younger self and ask him to fix an event which screw up the timeline. He's nearly 80 now and not getting any younger, so we'd better have him to close the elder Picard's story (and passes the torch to the new actor) before it's too late.

And yes, I prefer seeing a young Picard with his hair intact during his Academy years (like in "Tapestry"). They made a mistake in the canon when they featured a bald cadet Picard in "Nemesis." I believe he doesn't lose his hair till he's in his mid-30s, while on an away mission as the "Stargazer" captain.

George Takei is way past it. John Cho on the other hand, belting out speeches like his Into Darkness one ("... if you test me, you will fail.") or Beyond ("You have no idea who we are. But you'll soon find out.") would be awesome. Plus: Gay Dads in space.
