The Mini-Series You Would Like To See

Finnegan, P.I.

Starring Greg Grunberg. Set in the Kelvin Universe. A disgraced Finnegan becomes a private investigator on Yorktown base while trying to clear his name.

Would also like to see Harriman redeemed. He must have proven his salt to be given the ship in the first place so it’s a shame we never saw that.

According to MA:

Regarding why the clearly inexperienced Harriman was given command of a state of the art starship, Ruck speculated that Harriman had come from a privileged family who had pulled strings to get him the assignment as a stepping stone to a political career.

Privilege, in the UFP?

Not sure if serious?

Archer = daddy built the Enterprise's engine.
Kirk = daddy was a hero.

Well yeah. Kirk got his position through hard graft and exceptional performance. Doesn’t matter who his dad was.

I can’t speak for Archer because I didn’t follow Enterprise as closely.

But it seems odd that the federation would allow nepotism in its institutions. I could be wrong, but wasn’t the Warp Five Programme state sponsored? Is there no accountability in the government?

Maybe the conversation went like this:

‘So we’ve got this new super fast ship and it needs a Captain to explore the sector, make first contact and blow Earth’s friendly trumpet, shall we give it to someone deserving, and with exceptional experience and talent?’

‘Nah, we’ll give it to that scientist guy’s kid’

‘But why?’

‘He’d probably appreciate the gesture, is all’

‘I suppose he would, but wouldn’t that undermine the trust in the decision process and decision makers, and devalue the efforts of everyone in Star Fleet? I mean, it’s not like these people get paid for their sacrifice.’

‘Maybe, but what can they do about it, it’s not like we’re a free enlightened egalitarian democracy. Sod the plebs.’

It just doesn’t fit the narrative. Unless the federation is a lie, which it probably is.

Maybe Harriman is just 'minding the store' while the 'Great Experiment' is built and trialled. Then o/c, the ship is given to some other Captain.
Harriman might be no great shakes at saving the galaxy but he could be a wizard at project management

;-)

I'd like to see a ten-episode mini-series dealing with a first contact between our intrepid starfleet heroes and a civilization on the cusp of its first warp flight. Like the episode First Contact, but handled correctly over a season-long arc.

Series would keep the retro-futuristic aesthetics of TOS. 60s-inspired designs.

Now this is an idea I'd like to see.

I am sure many Star Trek fans want to see something continued from the other Star Trek shows like The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. Many of the cast members are still acting and not doing anything major. It would be a great opportunity for them to come back to the role that made them famous.

Alternatively, many fans wouldn't want to see this. They want something new. However, the reason I like your idea is that oftentimes too much time passes, or actors pass on, making true revivals incomplete or impossible. I think it would be great to "get the band back together" as it were.

Coincidentally, that's how Scott Bakula got the job too.

It would never work budget-wise unless they go animated, but I'd love to see a Klingon centric miniseries. They've had so many wars and with their culture, there must be some good stories.

Or the whole story of the feud between the houses of Duras and Mogh.

My ideal would be the tales of Kahless and the founding of the Klingon Empire. Michael Dorn could reprise his role as Worf, now retired and living on Borath as a cleric, telling the stories to other Klingons seeking guidance. Maybe they could do it and ated with live action interludes...

I had an idea for a show, bit similar to what Renegade's was trying to do, only it would be a set on a Klingon K'tinga stolen out of a space junk yard. You'd have a bunch of rag-tag types. Klingon, Orion, a (very secretive) Gorn, a couple humans(Junior Starfleet officers that got caught in the middle of this situation. A little Farscapey.

Honestly what I really want to see them do is get out in front of the TNG era. Push out, push beyond. Get far away from the convoluted as they can.

How bout something around WW3. A young womanising Zefram falls while hanging a mirror in the bathroom, bangs his head on the basin and wakes with the vision of a warp capacitor, but having lost his ability to speak to women.
