Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

I can't answer confidently either way.
I'm about 90% sure he's not, he's not played by Daniel Logan or Temeura Morrison, he doesn't have the New Zealand accent, and if he was Boba Fett they probably would have promoted the hell out of it. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't have been plastering his name and Logan or Morrison's face all over the marketing if it was him. The only reason it's not 100% is simply because I never definitely rule anything out until the show is released and people have seen and can testify to what is in it.

Jesus... stop watching the special editions!
It's not from the special editions, it goes back to the prequels where Boba and his father were both played by Maori actors who used their real accents.[/QUOTE]

Umm, yeah he is. By blood he is.
No, he isn't. According to the Mandalorians in Clone Wars, Jango was not an actual Mandalorian, and it's unknown how he acquired Mandalorian armour. Therefore, Boba can not be "Mandalorian by blood."
He's still white, he's just also Hispanic, they are not mutually exclusive.
Yes, thank you, I realize that. I should hope it was obvious my post was not meant to be taken seriously, certainly it seemed to be obvious to those who Liked it.

The fan base doesn't write the canon.
That's insulting to Rian Johnson.

That was in the prequels first.
Attack of the Clones - 2002
Empire Strikes back - 1979

And even if we were living in a Star Wars timeline Boba had lost his accent by 'Empire Strikes Back'.

They basically disavowed him because he had a bad reputation and was a bounty hunter. I wouldn't take their words so literally.
For example, my girlfriend says i'm not her boyfriend anymore. See, she doesn't really mean that. She is just angry.

Sure is cold sleeping in this car though...

He's not a Mandalorian in the new canon.

During the production of Clone Wars, George Lucas told Filoni he wasn't a Mandalorian, Dave took that and put it in the show, and none of the material released since the reboot has called him or his father a Mandalorian.

Boba had lost his accent by 'Empire Strikes Back'.
The Special Editions are canon, so he didn't.
He also has the accent in the recent Battlefront videos games (where he is voiced by Temuera Morrison) which are canon.

That's insulting to Rian Johnson.
Let me rephrase that. Fans that don't make material officially licensed by LucasFilm.

Except, Lucas himself oversaw the Special Editions, where he does have the accent. So, canon is he has an accent.

Darn that Lucas!

If I recall, the ones that denounced Jango Fett as being Mandalorian were Death Watch. I don't know if they have a thing against bounty hunters, or if Fett really did just collect armor from someplace. Somehow I imagine the unfinished Clone Wars story about Boba Fett and Cade Bane dueling might have raised the issue again.

The BTS features for the first Mandalorian arc which IIRC had commentary by Filoni saying that Lucas told them that Boba and Jango were not Mandalorians. This is further corroborated in much earlier sources like the ESB Novelization and Bantha Tracks, which all claim he just wears the armor of a group that fought the Jedi during the Clone Wars (which is all rather oddly specific suggesting this description came from on high).

Well sh*t!
As much as I enjoy Clone Wars and Rebels I have trouble taking animated series canon seriously over the movies. Until it's confirmed in live action I will keep hope that he is Mandalorian, even if he wasn't born on Mandalore.

A warning: this commercial has a bit of new footage in it, and if you just want to wait 6 days til the show actually airs next week, you'll probably be just fine.

That said, there's nothing super spoilerish here, just a bunch of new shots
