Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

Mostly just for fun, but also out of curiosity, here's a *VERY* quick and crude photo-kludge to get an idea how much Sackhoff looks like a live action Bo Katan.

Seems close enough to me, no?

There was a rumour that George was consulted on naming Yoda's species before the show aired, but I don't think it included anything about there being a child of the species in the show.

Might just have been a coincidence, since we never got a name in the season.

Edit: Found it, it's a Making Star Wars video from October 2019

Yeah, I thought I remembered reading something about this. Despite the fact it never happened, I actually buy this for a couple reasons.
First off: precedent. They consulted George when they wanted Palpatine to have a first name, and Yoda's species is arguably an even bigger deal, so that tracks.
Secondly, the idea that it would have fallen on episode 6 makes much more sense when you consider that Favreau wrote his episodes first and the two extra from Filloni and Famuyiwa & Yost were slotted in after the fact.

So if that information came from when they only had 6 scripts, that means the idea would have been for it to happened in the final episode of the season, which makes sense since that is when the Mando is given his quest to go find the Child's people.

There were some scenes in "Heros of Mandalore" that implied there was some sparkage between Bo and Rau. At the very least, he pledged his loyalty to Clan Kryze. And there's no reason not to think he'd still be following her by the time of Mando. And McKidd looks at least as much like Rau as Sackhoff does Bo.
Wow, I had no idea Fen Rau was voiced by Kevin McKidd.

They consulted George when they wanted Palpatine to have a first name
George created the name for the unproduced Underworld TV series, from before Disney bought the company. It wasn't so much the consulted him, that they already had the name on file.

Potato, tomato.

But fine, you want other references? Lucas has been on set for 'The Mandalorian'. and even gave some minor direction when visiting the 'Solo' set. So they're clearly not above asking him questions like this.

It doesn't prove anything, but it makes it seem credible enough to me.

Lucas was also consulted for The Rise of Skywalker regarding Palpatine's return, and the things that we learn in the film on Exogol concerning the Sith bear his hallmark.

It is nice to see that they are going to him for stuff like that, and that he is apparently willing to give his opinions and advice.

Wow! Did not see that coming... great addition to the cast, although I am really curious who is character will be.

Wow, it looking like there are going to be a lot of new characters this season.
Timothy Olyphant is a great addition to the cast.

My guess it will another one-off.

As they keep cramming more people I think it's realistic to expect Sackoff's appearance will be short too - supporting the theory it will be in a flashback about how Gideon took the saber from Bo.

I saw a video on that virtual projector technology a few weeks ago. It's pretty amazing. I was thinking yesterday it would be perfect for SNW, but I don't know if Disney holds patents on it or not.
