The least disliked episode of TNG - Final Part

Whilst The Inner Light has grown on me on subsequent viewings, I didn't like it first time around and I still don't find it as entertaining as the rest. As such, it gets my next point.

The Measure of a Man - 0

The Best of Both Worlds (I) - 0
Darmok - 0
The Inner Light - 1
Tapestry - 0
Chain of Command (II) - 0
All Good Things - 0

While I still think Tapestry and All Good Things are weaker episodes I'm tired of casting lone votes. The Inner Light has a great premise but the execution is very low key and by the numbers. It can go.

Darmok, it's a bit overrated and the speech thing was annoying, it's like me screaming at a random american "Pumuckl's bed broken!" And if they look confused trying the old "PUMUCKL'S ... BED ... BROKEN!!!" method as if that clarifies anything.

Voting again for Inner Light, because while it's a good episode, it's not as strong as the others and has a few big reaches in the premise.

I'll also give my point this round to The Inner Light and eliminate it... the episode does ultimately work on me, but only if I don't actually think about it, and most of the rest of these don't need that manipulation.

Tapestry or All Good Things? I will cast another vote for Tapestry. Im just not as interested in hot headed cadets as is Ron Moore.

A language made of metaphors is untenable outside of a small culture who already start off magically understanding all of the references that the metaphors are about.

Casting a vote for Tapestry. It's not that great, and has the lowest rewatch value of them all.

Voting for Darmok as it is the only remaining episode not in my top 20. Nothing bad to say about it, I guess the analogy language thing doesn't hold up that well if you think about it too hard.

Like, how do these people communicate math to each other? "Henry, his five oranges. Jack, his eight oranges. Henry and Jack, the oranges they have." It seems like a nebulous form of communication, you always communicate the gist of something and the specifics are implied, but that does not translate well when you're trying to advance science.

And are there a bunch of people walking into hospitals telling the receptionist "Caesar and Brutus in the senate" instead of "I've been stabbed"?

Not to mention, how do they say stuff like "shields are down to 40%"? Lovely concept and execution with one of the best guest stars in all of Trek, but I agree that it doesn't hold up that well when you think about it. It gets my vote.

Ouch. That's a tough choice! I think I'll have to add a 1 to......

Tapestry.

This round I'll vote for Tapestry too, I like it just a little bit less than the other remaining episodes. The worst thing I can say is that Patrick Stewart is not beliebable as a cadet.

I'm voting for The Measure of a Man. It's a solid episode, but not one of the series' best. Ultimately I think the premise was done much better and more entertaining in "Author, Author". The courtroom setting here is too sterile to be much fun, and it doesn't have the emotional impact of All Good Things... or the recently eliminated The Inner Light.

The Measure of a Man for me too. A terrific episode and extremely important in the context of TNG season 2, but the ending has always been a little silly to me. "These are questions best left to saints and philosophers. I'm neither qualified not competent to judge." Then why is she even here? And on what grounds should her ruling be taken seriously?

Tapestry can go. Overrated.

I'll give the vote to Tapestry too, so it's reset. I always think of it as a fun event, but I never really believed that Picard ONLY made himself noteworthy from that one incident... or it that it was the type of thing that would impress Starfleet.

I vote Chain of Command II because of Riker's ludicrous complaint that Jellico has got the crew wound so tight that "there's no joy in anything." In the midst of a highly delicate situation with the Cardassians, and potential war on the cards, you're worried about a lack of joy on the ship? The whole storyline made the crew, especially Riker, look like children.

Chain of Command II, Riker's behavior,is childish and I really don't like it, other than that it's a great episode but as the second part of a two parter there's only resolution and very little to no setup.
You can start a story and not finish it, that still works as an open ended episode on its own, but finishing a story without starting it ... that's weird. As a single episode part 2 doesn't work.

I'll give my point this round to Measure Of A Man. I'm persuaded by some recent arguments against it from @BlueStuff and @Mattadd , and it's just not aging as well as the rest of these.
