The Down Under Lounge

At long last ‍❤️‍‍❤️‍‍‍‍‍

Corey Bernardi and Lyle Shelton must be crying big tears of sorrow.

Oh, boo hoo to Bernardi and his ilk. My fondest hope is the Aust Conservative Party is wiped out at the next election.

Weeellll... he should have voted the way his electorate wanted, but then... so should Tony Burke, his electorate was very much No. TB was eloquent in his reasons, but he is a representative.

I was a ball girl for some of John Alexander's matches at the Tasmanian Open Championship back in 1971. I was not quite 13 and I developed a bit of a crush on him. He was about 19 years old at that time. He was runner up losing out to Alex Metreveli.

I have totally lost any respect I had for him as he since he became an LNP dickhead.

So, Kenneally didn't get up. Shame. Was a tall order though. Maybe next time.

no doubt turnbull will claim it as a verdict on his leadership but that end of the day all the libs did was retain a safe seat and that's not really much of an achievement.

That there was a a nearly 6% swing against them will be ignored and that sort of swing at a general election would sea the coalition lose a boatload of seats.

We were speaking of book ordering a while back in the thread.. I finally got a book today that was shipped from the Abe Books seller in the US 6 weeks ago. i was starting to despair of ever getting it. It has postmarks on it from the US, Germany and Singapore ! Why.... did it go all those places lol.

Anyway on the back of the book is a sticker which says PLEASE RETURN TO THE BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY. There's no cancelled or other type stamp to indicate this books was released from the lbrary's care, it is in good condition with library markings, so I guess I now have a stolen book

I received one book via Abe Books that had photocopies of an American couple's driving licenses in it.

Another pedestrian incident in Melbourne today. So far, 15 people have been injured after an SUV hit pedestrians around Flinders Street station.

Glad to see you okay, @Fruitcake

Sad day - saw on the news the memorial service for Rory O'Donoghue. He was a fixture in my teen years as Thin Arthur, and was a bright star. Now he's gone, at 68, by his own hand and depression. Apparently he knew he was loved by many, and it wasn't enough. Fuck depression.
