The Down Under Lounge

So what do people think of the first Ashes team. Feel sorry for Renshaw, but he has been out of form and Bancroft has been in form. Paine is also an interesting decision. Thought Nevill would return, but Paine has been making runs.

Likely Squad: David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Peter Handscomb, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird.
The only polite response I can offer is that the dirt Shaun Marsh has on the selectors must be truly extraordinary. Nothing else explains these endless comebacks from such a woefully limited player.

The Paine selection is laughable, but I suppose at least Wade's gone (hopefully forever).

Big gambles to take with an Ashes series.

Oh, well. Here's hoping our women seal the deal tonight. :bolian:

Malcolm Young has died, so soon after George. Poor Angus, losing two brothers so close together.

Wow, didn't know George had gone too. Condolences to all on the loss of your countryman and ex patriot Scot.

The rock world has lost a giant - DC was Mal's band...

Drew the Ashes series, so Australia retains. Won 2 out of 3 ODIs, drew the Test, won 1 out of 3 T20s.

Amazon AU's allegedly opening this week, for Black Friday sales. Well, retail stuff. They've been doing Kindle for a few years and recently Prime video.

So at the end of Day 3 with cricket - both teams could win. Looking forward to day 4. Still think that the wicket is a little slow, but it's making for great cricket.

And with the Queensland Election - Malcolm Roberts looks like he lost his seat. Queensland (and people of Ipswich) made a wise decision.

But not quite wise enough, as Labor probably won't get enough seats for a clear majority.

At least PHON lost seats.

Interesting rumours floating round about Barnaby. His daughter "borrowed" his campaign vehicle and drove round Tamworth with a loud-hailer loudly making accusations which, if true, are very much not a good look. The LNP is trying to keep a lid on it til after the by-election.

I wonder if that was before or after barmy barney claimed that some-one made death threats which may or may not have been claimed simply to cover his arse after bailing on some campaign events.

And now the banks are calling for a royal commission, so, I suspect, they can control the terms of reference. Interesting.

Anyway I hope Barnaby\ gets tossed if enough revelations come out, and Kenneally gets in. Then Labor might have a chance art ramping up the TsOR for the RC, and really give the financial institutions, including the insurers, some real stick.

Unfortunately, there's no real likelihood of Baranby losing the seat. The only person who could have been a shoe-in would be Tony Windsor, and given last election's result, I doubt he'd have been successful.

The one silver lining is: no One Nation candidate. Woo!

Stayed home today to prepare my house for the Mega Storm. Put a recycle bin under the off pipe area of the gutters that always spews water in heavy rain. THE BIN FILLED UP IN UNDER 5 MINUTES. Can't move it now, seems pointless to bail it out because of distance needed to dump the water..

There's water coming in everywehre

Heavy rain in Hobart at present. I have a friend who lives further up the coast at Bicheno and she needs rain for her tanks but it looks like she might miss out yet again.
