It's really not too bad, certainly not oppressive. Constant cooler breeze.

We're on the edge of it, it's been hot but tolerable.

Yeah it's very hot but I have memories of heat so bad that if you waved your arms in the air outside your arms felt burning. Those heat incidents have seemingly seared my brain and regular ol' 42 with a bit of a breeze does not register as epic.

And today, it was around 42, and yes, wave your arms and they felt scorchy. AND we had a power cut! Not fun.

A southerly buster came through about 7:30, and the temperature dropped like a stone (as usual). Much relief was had..

My eld\est's b'day today. We had a nice chat on the phone, and when grandgirl heard me, straight away she said "Boppy!" So she hasn't forgotten me. :)

This week I start a diet. Not looking forward to it, while I try to curb comfort eating due to pain.

Yesterday I read about the 200+ bats that died in Sydney as a result of the heatwave :(

It made me sad I love love love those huge bats. I found a dead one the day after the heat here.

We've got some kind of palm tree behind us, and a couple of bats/flying foxes like to squabble over its fruit. I heard one take off one night and it freaked me out a bit, because it wasn't "flapflapflapflapflapflapflapflap" but "FLAAAP FLAAAP .FLAAAP FLAAAP FLAAAP FLAAAP FLAAAP". Must have been pretty big.

I wonder how many die because of the lightning in Sydney, because it was pretty intense.

    "G'day, losers."

New Crocodile Dundee movie, with Mick's American son. Got Hoge's stamp of approval.

At least they're not trying to recreate the character.

    This might be good news.

Adani Group has cancelled a A$2bn contract with a mining services company for work on its proposed Carmichael coal mine in Australia due to its failure to raise funds for the controversial project.

The cancellation of the contract with Downer, an Australian company, on Monday is the latest challenge to hit the Indian conglomerate’s project, which has become a focal point for protesters over the role played by coal in causing climate change.

It also follows a decision last week by the Queensland state government to veto a A$900m ($690m) low-cost loan to Adani and the failure of Chinese investors to back the Carmichael mine.

“Adani and Downer have mutually agreed to cancel all letter of awards [confirmations of successful contract bids] and Downer will provide transitional assistance until 31st March 2018,” Adani said in a statement.

    Awww, yiss!
