I don't care what the right does. I've never been on their side. If they choose to make themselves undesirable that isn't my problem.

The left I have supported. The support is gone. I no longer consider myself a Labor voter. I have voted for them in every election but the last where I didn't bother to show up. I simply didn't care because neither party represented me. I don't need identity politics and I don't need the name calling and the shaming that seems to come from the left whenever someone disagrees with them. Right now it is the left who is losing support. Not the right. So "but they call names too" doesn't matter. If the left wants people to listen and be convinced then the name calling and the shaming need to stop.

There aren't many people in this thread and there are at least 3 who have engaged in that behaviour. Go into the neutral zone and you'll see it in spades from the international crowd. The strike rate is pretty high. No one has changed their mind because of this behaviour.

Just watched our evening "news" here and I'm saddened by polling that suggests even people here in Australia are moving toward right wing parties and such. Note the rise of people like Pauline Hanson in Queensland....

I find this saddens me as it feels a society isn't moving forwards but moving backwards or even stagnating.

    What constitutes "the international crowd"?

Also Pauline can still choke on a fish bone and she is still a moron.

The real problem is the fears, ignorance and innate australian xenophobia that has allowed her to somewhat flourish.

Much as I prefer the higher ground, it doesn't work with those who spew profanity and ignorance. Ignorance is hard to beat. Of course, you can let them drag you down to their level but they beat you with experience.

All we have are facts and truth, and if they don't listen, and they carry on as they do, then we can't beat them by being polite (much as I would like to). That is why the left loses.

I was talking to one guy from Reclaim Australia several months ago at one of their rallies which I counter protested.

This guy told us that halal certification funded terrorism. I was telling him that halal certification was needed so that we could sell our products to the large Asian market. This guy just kept repeating the same mantra 'halal funds terrorism'.

I asked him for proof of this and he answered 'It's on the internet'. I asked him where on the internet, could he give me a URL? He just repeated it's on the net. At this point another counter protester asked him hat the site was 'Was it Stormfront?' . The guy just repeated 'Its on the internet'.

We asked him a few more questions and then a policeman came over and asked to talk to me and the other counter protester. He took us aside and said 'It is pointless debating that guy, you are both wasting your breathe, he is too stupid to understand even the simplest truth.' So we agreed to leave the guy alone.

It's not like that level of scientific progression is dependent on the Federation.
