It is surprising how little one can find on the Internet about it. I searched yesterday and could!n't even find the names of the victims beyond the fact that his wife's name was Heather.

I found an archive article froms News Limited of a news report at the time when he was about to go on trial

It did name the victims and how they died (one woman had escape the house and he chased after her before shooting her in the back of the head).

Think I used cliff batholomew murder as the search term.

So I just downloaded a book called The Cruel City by Stephen Orr, that tells about some of the more horrific crimes that have taken place in Adelaide and the rest of Sourh Australia. It has a small chapter on the Bartholomew family murders. The victims were

Heather Bartlolomew
Mary Keane (Heather's sister) aged 23
Danny Keane 16 months

The seven Bartholomew children

Neville aged 19
Christine 17
Sharon 15
Helen 13
Gregory 11
Roger 9
Sandra 4

There is no mention of a daughter escaping because she was away at the time so maybe I remembered wrongly and she was from another family massacred.

Also the book only mentions him being charged with his wife's murder.

Less than one year per person. I wonder if that is the lowest sentence for murder per person ever in Australia?
Good to know that Cliff Bartholomew is out and about currently.

The last reference I could find about him is that he was living under an assume name in Adelaide in 1991.

Back to politics - the government has just announced significant cuts to housing programs. It would seem that Hockey not only thinks the poor don't own cars, but he wants to make sure the don't have roofs over their heads either.

According to ABC news some financial counselling services are also seeing cuts. So the people who need the most help with managing money, which will help prevent needing further assistance from the government, are going to go without. Seems to be cutting their nose off to spite their face.

Many organisations that are losing their funding are advocacy groups. Not surprising that the liberals want to try and gag the very poor.
