The Down Under Lounge

Been reported that former cricket captain Allan Border has Parkinson's Disease. Sad news. I know what this disease is like as one of uncles has it.

so the robodebt royal commission report is and not pretty reading for the former government (many news links, easy to find) with a sealed section listing names for referral to law enforcement and the anti-corruption commission for investigation

morrison's evidence is racked over the coals and he responds with typical scummo bullshit summed as "I was right, the commission is wrong, people don't know how govt works".

dutton is complaining about the report being released a week before the Qld by-election to replace stuart robert (all caned by the RC) even though the release date was set before robert jumped ship and there are legal requirements for when they have to be called.

many news corpse outlets are either burying the story or not mentioning the role of govt ministers.

I hope the LNP is chased all the way to jail. I'm tired to a two tier legal system (lookin' at you Gladys!).

Yeah she was found to be corrupt but no jail time. How does that even work? An "ordinary" citizen would be jailed, am I right?

Morrison has dug his heels in insisting what they did was the right thing.

It seems that Piers Morgan had a dumb spit over the post try reaction in the Raiders - Dragons match last night, as it was mocking the Bairstow runout and that person from Yorkshire was involved. The celebration was absolute gold.

@Miss Chicken glad your friend is no longer missing, even if you have no contact. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I have this thread on watch but have not been getting notifications (I never look at this forum otherwise).

I'm loving the fact Dutton seems to have steam coming out of his ears over the Robodebt royal comission. All the excuses under the sun will come out if they ever make public the sealed section of the report detailing possible charges that they want.

It has now been over 2 months since she last contacted me. My number 2 son ran into her early one (about 8am) when he went down the shopping centre to buy cigarettes. She was walking away from the centre with groceries in a bag. My son has only recently got a housing department unit in the suburb where we think she is living. He said she seemed a little annoyed to run into him. He told her that her sister and me were worried about her but she didn’t explain anything to him.

It seems that she must be going shopping early in the morning to avoid her sister who starts work as a cleaner at the shopping centre at 10 am.

My son ‘s girlfriend asked if my friend was a hoarder. When my friend deserted her house back in 1991 the house was a pigsty. She left because her ex-husband had returned to Tasmania and wanted to see the children. Her sister and I went into the house a couple of months after see deserted it to get anything important out. She told us later that someone had broken into the house and trashed it.

However when my son ‘s girlfriend was disparate for a Housing Department home back in 2017 she was offered my friend’s house ‘as is’. His girlfriend looked in through the windows and saw the mess and asked the Department if they at least clean out the house. When she next phoned them up they told her the house had been sold. I gather that the new owner must have cleaned everything out.

Anyway if she does contact me I don’t think I will renew the friendship. She was always a high maintenance friend who over-reacted to so many things. She has got worse as she aged.

Friends can be complicated, and family members even worse. My sister can't understand the reaction to the robodebt thing, especially the suicides and we tried to explain it but she doesn't get how people can react like that.

I stopped talking to a friend, when, while in a mentally fragile state, he hammered me about politics as a rabid RW supporter, even has a Trump hat, when I was genuinely fearful of Morrison getting in again at the last election. I really was worried, and he just steamrolled me.

In other news, well-known weatherman Alan Wilkie has passed away, 94.
