The DEADPOOL Movie Anticipation Thread

Yeah, the Cap movies and the first Iron Man are the only MCU movies that are worth a fuck as films.

And she fits in very well with previous movies, seeing as they simply slapped someone else's powers onto her. She started out as Cannonball, and the power set remained even after they switched characters. ...Which seems to happen in pretty much every X-Flick.

Angel Dust started out as three different characters, but budget cuts lead to her being condensed into one.

Deadpool
leaving his weapons bag in the taxi was a nod to this because they originally had planned a big gun fight at the end

This may have been mentioned in the thread already, I don't remember where I read it.

Here is a article on it though

Eh, I don't think it's that hard to figure out. The movie looked different and fun and the reviews were really good, so people wanted to go see it. Plain and simple.

Also a truck full of comics spilled out onto the freeway in Ohio containing lots of Deadpool comics

If I hadn't thrown my back out earlier this week I wanted to get my comics out of their burial sites and see what shape my 1st appearance of Deadpool is in and if I happen to have any extras. Mile High Comics website had it comically listed at $2000 for NM which I doubt but they are no longer showing it at all now (sold?).

Will Deadpool's success make Batman v Superman, Civil War, and X-Men: Apocalypse look bad?

I think it will. I'm already starting to care less about the other superhero movies of 2016 because they look like the bland same old same old.

Eh, Deadpool was good (solid 8.5/10, and I'm a Deadpool fan) but I love everything Marvel does (when it comes to films), and I expect Civil War to blow Deadpool out of the park. I'll take Marvel's "same old same old" over any other films that come out. Deadpool will probably beat BvS, but I say that as someone without much faith in DC Comics based movies. Apocalypse could go either way. I'm sure it will be good, but I can see Deadpool being a better movie.

It's super easy to explain. If something looks like it might be a good movie, people will go and see it.

No. A lot of fans have an obvious tendency towards "Best _____ ever!" (when it's not the Worst Ever, of course) but that only lasts until the next Best Ever.

All subsequent comic movies will mostly be judged on how good they are. Some people, as always, will judge them on if they are better than X, but it will be a loud minority.

So sayeth the soothsayer! (Say it five times fast.) ;)

^ That's really what it comes down to. The audience isn't stupid. If they like something, they will support it. *Underdog films like Deadpool and Ant-Man* If they don't like something, they will let it crash and burn. *Fantastic Four 2015*

Just got back from seeing it I can't say I was really thrilled. The humor mostly just fell flat for me. Humor is always very subjective, and there were some good lines in it, but still it seems overly juvenile to me. I actually found Deadpool himself to be more annoying than funny.

It wasn't the worst or anything, but I doubt I'll be watching a sequel or buying the bluray. I guess you can count me as one who doesn't get the success either.

Yet you were still part of its success. It's more about what compelled you to go see it in the first place. Was it good word of mouth or did the trailers look good?

I think it's important to make a good first impression. Most of the success and failures of these movies can be tracked back to that I think. F4 raised suspicions from the very beginning whereas Deadpool hit it from the start, heck, the leaked test footage contributed to the film getting greenlit.

Star Wars was like the ultimate, from the first to the last they just kept showing the same footage but just a little longer and longer as it went on. They seemed to home in on the right stuff to show right from the beginning and then just stuck with it and doubled-down on it.

If you can keep people locked from the beginning that seed just grows and grows and builds upon itself. Easier said than done, right?

In truth I thought the trailer looked worse than the movie was. I saw it because my little sister wanted someone to go with her. :)

One of those rare movies I'm really looking forward to seeing again (Revenant had the most stunning cinematography in years, but no desire to rewatch). Perfect casting, really well-integrated vfx (says something when CGI Colossus better than live-action one, and even a few Avengers).

I must say when watching it, and thinking of possible Cable team-up, the first actor name that came to mind was Liam Neeson. Not that he'd necessarily be best of some possible good options, but I could just immediately see him in part playing against Reynolds.
