The DEADPOOL Movie Anticipation Thread

One of those rare movies I'm really looking forward to seeing again (Revenant had the most stunning cinematography in years, but no desire to rewatch). Perfect casting, really well-integrated vfx (says something when CGI Colossus better than live-action one, and even a few Avengers).
Here's some info about the FX which may be of interest.

I must say when watching it, and thinking of possible Cable team-up, the first actor name that came to mind was Liam Neeson. Not that he'd necessarily be best of some possible good options, but I could just immediately see him in part playing against Reynolds.

But Deadpool has nightmares about Liam Neeson. :)

Liam also happened to have a starring role in The Dead Pool.

This movie was so good, I thought Disney/Marvel Studios made this movie. Finally Fox made a faithful X-Men title, Bryan Singer take notes because I'm still hoping Marvel Studios can get that franchise away from your hands. Marvel Studios track record is sooo good right now; how awesome would it be for a real X-Men film be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The movie was fun, and violent; something Wolverine needs I think. I'm glad the film stayed away from X-Men Origins and did their own thing. It was magical to have Stan Lee say what he said in his cameo for the film; really funny and fresh. And the sprinkle on the ice cream was the after credit sequence where he's asking us we're still in the theater. It was such a nice touch. This movie felt more like what Marvel Studios does in comparison to that shit stain which was called Fantastic Four.

Look what I bought last Friday, the left Deadpool is holding a sword and gun while the right Deadpool is holding two swords.

Seeing as there wasn't a separate review thread created so this one becomes the de facto review thread, I'd say "yes."

Feh, no one at Disney would have the balls or the sense of humor to make this movie. They can only make those MCU things.
Your missing the point, I'm crediting Deadpool filmmakers in getting the character and the tone right. Something Disney has done successfully, where Fox has continued to fuck up with all of the Marvel properties.

Well, after a week of hype, I went into this movie with unrealistically high expectations... and they exceeded ALL of them! What an amazing movie! So hilarious. So dirty. So out there and bizarre. So deconstructing of comic book movies while at the same time honoring them. Great action. Great story. Great characters. Amazing! Even the villains were good; that's usually the problem with movies like this. This was no Maliketh!

The biggest surprise for me was Colossus. I expected a mindless lump like he's been in the other X-Men movies. But his overbearing parental role was absolutely hilarious! And his fight with Angel was actually my favorite fight in the movie. Great, great stuff. Negasonic Teenage Warhead was also great.

I also can't believe the finale took place on the wrecked Helicarrier from The Avengers! What an amazing crossover!!!

I dunno, I've liked more non-MCU Marvel movies than I have the ones that Paramount/Disney/Marvel have crapped out. Deadpool is an actual honest-to-god movie rather than a big promotional video for lots of other shit coming down the line.

We just got home from seeing it in Glorious IMAX.

Hilarious. Brilliant. Hit all the right notes perfectly.

Solid "A".

:techman:

There must be something very wrong with the X-men movies for not being bigger. Blame Singer for them being way too serious and not fun enough?
I honestly never understood why fans loved them so much. By and large, they were tragic.

I had to explain that joke to my friend who is a few years younger than I. I didn't think those few years made that much of a difference, but I thought Ferris Bueller was just one of those movies everyone had seen, regardless of when they were born!

The movie was a lot of fun, no question about it. But I still love the X-Men movies as well, I'm glad we live in a world where we can have both!

I've ignored the X-Men films ever since Marvel Studios has handled their properties. Fox has done such a terrible job with those characters and the director Bryan Singer just doesn't have a clue about them either. From those films to Fantastic 4, I wish Marvel could get those characters back so they could be handled correctly and faithfully.

What about Ferris Bueller??? I haven't seen the movie either.

Yeah. It's an honest to God movie in your opinion. I didn't like Avengers 2, I hated The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Captain America 1, and Thor 2, and I'm not interested in Ant Man, but the other films has been really good in my opinion. I've heard some saying your same sentiments and Avengers Infinity will have to pay off for those promotions to work.

James Gunn could, he's already done something similar with Super. Rain Wilson is an emotionally disturbed man who gets inspired by a religious themed superhero to fight crime in real life. It's like a weird mix of Deadpool and Kickass, but it stays fairly grounded in reality.

I doubt Marvel Studios would let him do it. But he's from Troma and can go to some weird places if allowed.
