The College Football Thread

Yeah, thats definitely what spotters are for. I was always afraid of that happening when I lifting, and feel bad for anyone who has to find out first hand. Plus, that guy is benching way more than I ever could.

An update on the USC player Johnson. After 7 hours of surgery, it is expected that he will fully recover even though he's not able to speak yet. The article says that his muscular neck probably saved his life.

Glad the kid's going to be OK.

Good grief.

What a crazy thing to happen! I'm glad he's okay.

I am not sure what to expect tomorrow. USC's offense is completely inept. Then again, Cal's defense didn't look very good last week either.

Whoever loses can probably kiss any hope of the Pac Ten title goodbye.

I'm trying to stay mum on this game. After what happened last week, this game feels like it's lost a bit of luster.

Do you guys realize that after tomorrow, whoever loses that game may well be behind .... of all teams .... Stanford!!!?!?!?!

Harbaugh seems to have worked wonders at Stanford: Looks like they're no longer the perpetual pushover.

I'm going to Navy-Air Force today with my parents, brother, and his roommate. Should be fun.

CV, it's not looking too good for Rich and the Wolverines right now, 20-6 with 10 min to go in the 4th quarter.

^Man, Michigan came back to force OT. It's certainly been an exciting fourth quarter. I have no idea how the game will turn out.

Edit: Well, Sparty wins in OT. A bummer to be sure, but Michigan's comeback was good to see.

Well this is the first weekend I shouldn't have to worry about the Oregon Ducks. They're 33 point favorites over the Washington State Cougars. Of course that means they'll probably lose.

Last I saw Stanford was winning 24 to 6. To those who actually mentioned Stanford in this thread, I know, it's unreal. Harbaugh's got them believing in something and while I don't follow them as much as Cal, it's nice to see the other Bay Area team (On my side of the Bay) do well.

CV, yes it was a good come back, and I think Forcier has the starter's job locked up forever. I really like his playing style and that the Michigan coaches are letting him go for it. The offense is alright, then again MSU has a fair defense at best. Where the Wolverines have real problems is on defense still. But I have a feeling it will come around.

Watched Alabama today and frankly, they are my #1 team right now. They have looked consistently excellent no matter who they have played.

Went to the JSU/UT-Martin game today. There's nothing more fun than seeing your team take the opponent's first two drives and make pick-sixes out of them. :)

I agree that Alabama has looked like the best team in the land so far, with Texas not too far behind. Florida has been a little overrated from the start, and Tebow's injury isn't going to help them.

As for Michigan, they still have all kinds of issues to work out as a team. Their defense is soft, giving up way too many yards and points. It'll hold them back quite a bit this year. The offense has been the bright spot, and I'll definitely take a 4-1 record through five games to start the year. Next week's trip to Iowa is big.

Thank god today is Super Saturday in the NHL (And Faceoff Weekend) or else I would be more pissed about Cal's effort than I am currently.

That went well.

20-0 is certainly not an insurmountable lead. There's a lot of football to be played.

USC has to keep forcing the issue, and not slow down.

Having said that, Cal's offense looks like shit.

I was glad to see them win as well. The fact that they won't lower their standards places them at a recruiting disadvantage, but speaks highly of the school.
