The College Football Thread

^Calling it a fact? How dare you!

In seriousness, anyone see Ole Miss go down to South Carolina tonight? Another Top 5 team goes down this week. This hasn't been 2007 all over again, but there have been a number of upsets.

ESPN pointed out that every week has had a top 5 upset. The question was which team could be next for one. The vote there was Penn State, which could likely be true, but I could see Florida or Alabama falling this week as well.

With Penn State, I'm not sure how this game will go. If they are a solid team this year, they will win this week. It's revenge for last year, at the very least. At the same time, they haven't been all that impressive in any game, so it's hard to judge (the only thing that matters is if they get the W, but, for picky people who rank teams, they want to see blowouts).

Aw, crap. Colorado State is playing BYU at BYU this week. They don't have a prayer. They so rarely win against them...can't remember the last time they won.

Cal has a pretty big game tomorrow. First conference game, and I really hope they don't look past this game for USC. It should be a great one.

JM1776,

You can go ahead and take Cal out of your top 25 now. What a pathetic effort this was. I don't know what to say other than another year, another game in which Cal forgets to show the hell up. At least USC lost a Pac-10 game, but man this is disappointing. I think what's worse is this game is making me look incredibly stupid for the things I said this week. I guess the only good thing about this weekend is tomorrow is the NFL but you never freaking know. :(

*sigh* First quarter, BYU 7, Colorado State zip. :( But at least it's only one touchdown so far.

BYU is out for blood tonight after last week's loss. CSU is going to get punished, even if they play well.

While seeing Cal get the Ever-Loving-Crap kicked out of them brings me delight and joy, you have nothing to feel stupid about. You're a fan. We're supposed to be irrational.

Michigan narrowly avoids an upset at the hands of Indiana today. Their new center had all kinds of problems getting the snap to the QB. But a win is a win.

I'll give Michigan credit for holding IU to field goals and coming back. I strongly object to the "interception" ruled by the officials at the end of the game. That was dual possession and IU should have had a chance to try for the tie or win. Nothing's going to change now, so I'll get over it.

Yeah, that was a bit of a questionable call. It basically handed the game to Michigan. If I were on the other end of it, I wouldn't be very happy either. I don't like seeing the Wolverines win that way, but wins are wins.

#6 Ohio State - lost
#9 Miami - lost
#18 Florida State - lost
#22 North Carolia - lost

Three of those team sdid lose today, but Ohio St shut out Illinois 30-0. Or did you mean Cal? I think they were #6.

Mallory ... what in the WORLD got into your Ducks today?!?!?! Absolutely NEVER saw that coming!

CV ... your offense is rounding into shape nicely, even if those two wins were against Notre Dame and Indiana... two teams not known recently for defensive prowess. The Michigan defense isstill having severe problems, but the offense may be alright with Forcier at the helm. Rich-Rod is no doubt sleeping a little better.

I feel your pain, buy obviously I'm pretty happy. It looks like Oregon is finally starting to pull it together. And we're though the worst part of our schedule now (three ranked teams in four weeks). Next up? Washington State.

:( Colorado State just can't beat BYU, no matter how hard they try or how well they play. *sighs*

Bah. The final was 42-23. :wah:

Well, looks like Auburn's 4-0 now. The question is, what happens when they start going up against SEC teams?

(BTW--was anyone else watching this? The ref that looks like a young Marc Alaimo was back. Does anyone else see this resemblance, or is it just me???)
