The Ahsoka series is coming.

And basically spaced or up and murdered the crew. The Stormtroopers would likely be fine in the cargo section, but that captain is dead (though deserved).
Probably the only creature with a higher kill count to Chopper is Tarkin via Death Star. Maybe Palpatine and Darth Vader....maybe. (At least until Starkiller Base)

One can see why Obi-wan was into Mandaorians....
Also nice to see an E-wing. I speculate that Lothal became a hub for Rebel starfighter production after the Battle of Yavin. Taking over the Imperial factories and starting to produce X-wings and B-wings, with the E-wing being post-war.

I've always had a slight distaste for the old E-Wing design. Always looked to much like a broken X-Wing toy with the wings hanging off. I prefer a little more originality in design aesthetics, and with rare exception I've always had a low opinion for kitbash designs (see also: 90% of all Legends TIE fighter models.) Also the blaster cannon right above canopy just looked dumb. How was the pilot even supposed to get out of that thing?!

Not that I doubt ILM's modelmakers ability to make it look at least credible.

I doubt that was the case, given that it would suddenly have made Lothal a very high priority target for the Imperial fleet.
What's more likely is that they donated all of the left over manufacturing equipment, parts, materials, and droids to the Alliance for them to pack up and ship to whatever secret shipyards they were actually using. That way the civilian population wouldn't have been endangered by the Alliance presence, and if anything the dismantling of it's industrial capacity would have made the planet far less interesting to the Empire.

Indeed, supposedly it was the collateral damage during the rout on Garel that made them stop using populated worlds as bases or hubs, instead favouring unsettled or abandoned wilder planets like Yavin & Hoth.

the one in the trailer doesn’t seem to have a top cannon.

the canopy in the trailer also appears to be slid forwards, not opened upwards like the X-Wing.

I don't think it is Kanan's lightsaber. It has some similarities but is different in the details. However, there was a conscious decision to show these two Force Users with Orange lightsabers and then show us what looks like an Imperial Inquisitor with a Red double-bladed lightsaber. Just so you can visually see that the other two's sabers are not Red, but distinctly Orange.

Sabine still has Ezra's Green lightsaber, and we know she knows how to use it. She may not be a Jedi, but she's a skilled Mandalorian who trained with Kanan and Ezra on how to use the Darksaber...so Ezra's lightsaber will work for her. (She won't be blocking blaster bolts with that, but otherwise she's do fine, plus she's got Mando tricks on her sleeves).

But it's been like a decade since Ezra left. No telling what that's done to him. Like a third of his life has now been spent away from his friends and planet in the Unknown Regions. What would that do to him? We know he's touched the Dark Side, so that's a potential worry. Plus, I seem to remember that he was wounded just before the hyperspace jump to wherever space. We know Thrawn's back, and I doubt it's a clone of Thrawn (though that is an option), so Ezra's someplace. Mean, he could just be died, and the only role for the actor is holograms and flashbacks, but that seems like a waste. Ezra is Luke and Leia's age, so roughly 30 in the Mando timeline.

Though this is Ahsoka's show...and we will likely have flashbacks...probably to the Clone Wars, but also perhaps to Rebels for context for people who did not watch those cartoons. Plus we know Hayden Christensen is in this, so there are chances for him in both flashbacks, and as a Force Ghost (because via Return of the Jedi, we know he can do that). So that's another thing to come.

Apparently, Shin is using Kanan's lightsaber? I'm seeing this mentioned in multiple places online.
I wondered about that, but while the hilt is a similar style with the raised almost fushi style guard, it's not quite identical and the details on the grip are noticeably different.
Not that's impossible. The last time we saw it, Pryce had it in her office when Thrawn returned to Lothal after Kanan's death. It's possible she sent it up to Thrawn and it was on board the Chimera when Ezra jumped them all away . . . but it seems more likely that it was still in her office when the complex was destroyed.
She may not be a Jedi, but she's a skilled Mandalorian who trained with Kanan and Ezra on how to use the Darksaber...so Ezra's lightsaber will work for her.
Yes and no. She's clearly meditating in that one shot, and during the course of 'Rebels' (basically from 'The Protector of Concord Dawn' onwards) there was a recurring thing about Sabine leaning more towards Jedi philosophy than Mandalorian.
Obviously she doesn't have the same kind of natural force sensitivity required to train as a Jedi Knight, but one doesn't need to be able to make rocks float to follow the Jedi code. The force is created by an is a part of all living things. Anyone can feel it if they can learn to quiet their mind, unlearn what they've learned and to be able to let go.

Indeed the whole point of the 'Trails of the Darksaber' episode wasn't to teach Sabine how to use a lightsaber, it was to help her find her inner balance. Even Ezra said the most important things he learned from Kanan was about life, and how to be a good person, to be selfless and compassionate. That's what is really at the core of what it means to be a Jedi, and it's exactly what the Order lost sight of and led to their fall.

It's been at the back of my mind for a while now, but I've been wondering if part of Filloni's long term plan might be for Sabine to become something of a new spiritual leader for Mandalorians. Using the precepts and philosophy of the Jedi Code and melding it with the martial traditions of The Creed to create a new movement. Not a band of mercenaries or would be warlords out for themselves, trying to recapture old glories and fantasies of domination, or an insular cult of zealots obsessing over rituals, only ever looking inwards. But warriors dedicated to the protection of those in need. To stand on the bridge and let no evil pass. Not for glory, or honour, or riches, but because that is the way.

So something kind of on a similar level to the Guardians of the Whills, combined with The Protectors of Concord Dawn. Or hell; the Aquillian Rangers from the second and (I think?) Third Draft of what would become ANH. They were basically heavily armed warriors allied with the Jedi who "serve the Force of Others". I think it would be interesting to re-introduce this concept.

I think we're already seeing glimpses of that with the rescue of Navarro, and I wonder if this is how it will dovetail with Sabine's story somewhere down the road. I mean the Mandalorians have tried pacifism and it didn't work for them. Their tried warmongering, and that was just as disastrous. Perhaps this is the more balanced path.
If nothing else it would certainly be a neat addition if we get to the NJO movie and Rey has a cadre of Mandalorian rangers as temple guards watching over her young padawans, even if it's just a background detail.

Grogu's guards at Rey's Temple? Interesting thought. Sort of like If Obi-wan had joined Satine back when he was a padawan and together they forged a new way with a mix of her pacifism and Kenobi's Jedi defender code into a Mandalor that protects the Outer Rim when the Jedi and Republic don't or can't. Such a force might have even stalled Count Dooku's CIS idea because the Rim would have protection from Mandalorean "Knights" who follow the "new" Way.

No, I doubt Obi-Wan leaving the order would have had much of an impact on Satine's rule. At most, it just would have meant he'd have joined the Protectors . . . or taken up sculpture or something. If anything, having an ex-Jedi as consort could have weakened her position even more than it already was with the more traditionalist leaning factions, and led to her being ousted much sooner than later.

Anyway, I think I like the term 'Mandalorian Rangers' more than 'Mandalorian Knights'. It speaks more to the semi-nomadic lifestyle engendered by The Creed, as well as the old west gunslinger vibe that Favreau favours (and was a factor in Boba's inception.) There's also the allusion to both the Second Draft, and Tolkien, which all seems quite apropos.
Aside from the inherent confusion of two types of 'Knights' working together with vastly differing skillsets, the term has a wholly different subtext. In the traditional sense, a Knight is a nobleman; an officer, not just a fancy soldier. Or if we're to put it in broad medieval Japanese terms; Jedi Knights are like the aristocratic Samurai, whereas Mandalorian Supercommandos would be somewhat analogous to the Ninja clans.

I kind of picture them mostly assisting Jedi in peacekeeping operations when diplomacy fails, or a warlord, pirate king, or would-be Emperor just straight up needs beheading. But they could also support them in mercy missions; breaking blockades, acting as bodyguards for high profile targets, escorting refugees to safe havens. That kind of thing.

I've seen theories that Baylan and Shin could be from another time, via the World Between Worlds, Baylan's armour and saber hilt feel like they're from a different era.

From the newer Thrawn novels, Eli Vanto. Thrawn's personal aid and originally translator when he joined the Empire. Character was from Wild Space and had at least some knowledge of the Chiss at first meeting.
