I guess they waited to see if the character was well received. And of course she was. Looking forward to it.
Just saw the news on Io9. Rosario Dawson was great, so I'm excited for this. That's a really cool logo.
I pretty much figured this was going to happen. Not a huge fan of Dawson, but with good writing that can easily be overcome. it's definitely something I'm interested in seeing.
Io9's article about this and Rangers of The New Republic has revealed a bit more information. It confirms both shows are set after Return of the Jedi, and that their seasons will "ultimately culminate in a shared climactic event.
I wonder if it will be something to do with Spoiler: Mandalorian Season 2 Grand Admiral thrawn that would be pretty awesome.
Mind of hope it's a ashoka/ Thrawn trilogy mash up. Hope they continue to use the voice actors as live action
I have a feeling she'll voice supplemental animated short videos of some kind building up to the series.
I wonder if Ahsoka would have some flashbacks (for the non-cartoon watching audience) of her with Obi-wan and Anakin in the Clone Wars...or her time with the Rebels (one can assume this is the series that will figure out the fate of Ezra Bridger), all while revolving around Grand Admiral Thrawn's campaign.
If it's as well written and done as the Mandalorian has been, it should be great. I never watched the animated stuff (and I wish I had), so I don't have any pre-conceptions about the character.
Has there been a sci-fi character from a major franchise who did a complete 180 in fan appreciation from hated to love like Ahsoka has? When she was introduced in the clone wars cartoon the character got so much hate. This is like Wesley Crusher coming back as the main character of a Star Trek series.
It's never too late! Keep in mind a certain percentage of that perception is based on the age of the fans. All the 8 year olds that loved her from the very start didn't really have a voice, so all you heard back then was the grumpy old fans. Honestly I don't remember Ahsoka being especially "hated", at least not by the sorts who's opinions I take seriously. There was a lot of general prequel "hate" back then, little of it was even coherent, let alone focused. My memory of the criticisms focused more on the overall tone and that they'd put that straight-to-DVD quality animated movie in theatres (back when Pixar could do no wrong) and that it'd be about a baby Hutt...
It does make it understandable why they may have wanted a bigger seasoned name playing the character then if it was just an appearance or two in Madalorian.
