They're not kids either.under no circumstances are 14yo grown-ups
Canada basically has the same ratings and standards for TV and Movies as the US.
I don't see anything wrong with letting 14 year olds watch Stargate. I watched SG-1 when I was 14.

Is private and doesn't need to be on a screen.nope - it's the normality of killing sentient people (gore or no gore) that america thinks is okay for kids - while making new people ...
Gargoyles had an episode where one of the titular Gargoyles was playing with a gun and accidentally shot their human friend, injuring her badly enough she needed hospitalization. Even in the next episode, though released from the hospital, she was still walking on crutches.Like in the early 90s the Batman animated series had guns (though you never saw anyone die or get injured),
never heard of itThe book in question, btw, was the novelization of DR. PHIBES RISES AGAIN. Clearly, a classic of modern literature.![]()
killing lots of people is okay for 14yo (don't get me wrong, they get it anyway)They're not kids either.

do we have a thread about puritanism and why it is bad for humankind? Is private and doesn't need to be on a screen.
Well, that's a ridiculous standard. Is private and doesn't need to be on a screen.
thisWell, that's a ridiculous standard.
A) Imagine for a moment that private things could not be shown in drama. You'd have no scenes of Perry Mason conversing with his client. You'd have no scenes of anybody conversing with their doctor, priest. You'd have no scenes of anybody home alone. You'd have no scenes of a husband and wife discussing anything by themselves. That's clearly ridiculous. So, next:
B) If it offends you, don't watch it. Easy peasy.
There's a big difference between watching it and doing it.killing lots of people is okay for 14yo (don't get me wrong, they gert it anyway)
okay, you think it's okay for kids to see problems solved by shooting up people? thank god for dr mckay's rants about thatThere's a big difference between watching it and doing it.
exactly - personly i prefer twat as a swearwordSo this might be strange, and I think it stems in part from everyone's favourite sunbed victim's famous "grab her by the..." quote, but I find pussy to be quite distasteful as it feels to me like it has a more direct connotation with describing a woman's sexual organs than cunt does which, whilst it still comes from the same place, will rarely be used in a sexualised manner.
yes, and ... did they do it in pg whatever? Now I'm imagining "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf" without the private scenes.

I'm not offended.Well, that's a ridiculous standard.

I knew the Beave was a foul-mouthed little punk.Interesting side note: The word golly used to be one of the most vulgar obscenities in the English language. In the late 16th/early 17th Centuries, it was considered obscene because it was a contraction for God's Body. The idea that God would have a body was considered a horrible blasphemy, and therefore golly was one of the most vulgar words in English.
Flash-forward to the 1950s: Golly has not only lost its vulgar status, it has now become closely associated with the exact opposite moral status, being regarded as a word almost exclusively associated with wholesomeness and innocence.
Not sure that applies, largely because it assumes I have issues with sex.do we have a thread about puritanism and why it is bad for humankind?
didn't say that - i think you have issues displaying it in any form (that is where puritanism comes in)Not sure that applies, largely because it assumes I have issues with sex.
That is incorrect. I just not found it additive to any show I have watched. So my preference is not to have it on screen.didn't say that - i think you have issues displaying it in any form
She looks worried.
