Can't they enjoy both of the modern supermans? What a bunch of crybabies..

Indeed. As you see, some are still soiling themselves about Man of Steel / Snyder instead of focusing on the new film they claimed was that which they wanted to see--the hallmarks of obsessive hate, and all of the triggered replies and smilies in the world will not alter that fact.

I think the press reporting on Cain's remarks was somewhat overblown. By that time, they smelled blood in the water surrounding the politics of the movie.

Oddly enough, the so-called controversy over Clark's immigration status and the cries of "Woke!" probably drove the opening weekend higher - but not because of anger on the right or the defensive reactions from the political left.

Most people are not that ideologically driven.

What happened, if anything, was that coverage of the film's existence and imminent release just broke through at higher levels in the general, non-geek, non-entertainment media. Awareness itself is everything.

"Oh, there's a new Superman movie? Maybe I'll check that out."

The Snyder cult is melting down on Twitter and reddit. The entire world is in a conspiracy to lie - LIE, I TELL YOU! - about the success and popularity of Superman.

They're posting videos of themselves ripping up Superman tee shirts and breaking Superman action figures. Bunch of putzes.
As a Superman and toy collector I just have to make sure, they're not destroying any vintage figures, do they?

But you don't understand! Our enjoyment takes away from their enjoyment! Can't have that!

I've pretty much enjoyed all the superman starting with the 1948 Kirk Alyn serials. Superman is my favorite superhero. I liked tge Snyder version well enough. Not close to my favorite but fun. The character is always fun to watch in tv or in movies.

Cain's actually been like this since at least Gamergate, where he took the side of Gamergate.

Deadline reported on the controversy and Cain's remarks:

Gunn’s comments triggered conservative media and sent them into a tailspin where Fox News host Jesse Watters joked that Superman now had “MS-13” on his cape.

Cain spun the joke, saying that Watters meant, “How woke is Hollywood going to make this character?"

The germane part of what he said about the movie was:

“Changing beloved characters I don’t think is a great idea. I think if you wanna create a new character, go ahead and do that, but for me, Superman has always stood for truth, justice and the American way,” he added. “And the American way is immigrant-friendly — tremendously immigrant-friendly, but there are rules.”

Cain noted that “it was a mistake by James Gunn to say it’s an immigrant thing” and belives those comments will “hurt” the box office, adding, “I was excited for the film. I’m [still] excited to see what it is, because James Gunn seems to have a sense of humor and the last iterations of Superman didn’t have much humor. So I’m rooting for it to be a success, but I don’t like that last political comment.”

I think he's wrong-headed, but it's fair comment and he doesn't present in this instance as a raving looney who objects to Gunn or is very critical of the movie as such.

The main problem with Snyder is how determinedly he works to ensure it isn’t fun.

It was not my favorite interpretation of the character by far but I found some things to like about it. The effects were really good. I liked how jor el was portrayed. I didnt like that superman broke zods neck and killed him. He could have found a better way. I also didn't get why superman kept pushing zod into buildings and causing casualties.

My favorite superman is the 78 movie still. But i like the oldest versions still to this day. I found a great copy of the 1948 serial with Kirk Alyn and will be watching that one in the next few days. Pretty cool version.

The Snyder folks have simply made themselves an easy target to make fun of.

Has Dean Cain complained about Pa Kent being alive in the movie yet?
There’s a long, mostly sympathetic, piece about him here, and while he does say some nice things about the movie, his comments about the Kent parents make it clear he either hasn’t seen the film or has missed the point about them

If that's it then I don't understand all the commotion

I saw the movie last week with my wife. We liked it, in my opinion it could have take a slower pace and the music wasn't special like in the the Reeve and Cavill movies.
