Christopher, I think The Dead Mixer was saying that James could fill the role of the DEO, but I don't really see how.
Well the ratings dropped 29% and to 8.9 million viewers without Big Bang as a lead in. Which was expected but still a bit concerning...

He might have more of a niche if he weren't in on her secret...somebody at work who'd be paying enough attention to her comings and goings for her to make lame excuses to.
And James could just as easily be hacker guy if they'd written him to fill that role.
Has it been established that he's supposed to be Toyman's son? I thought he was just Toyman, or named after him.
I haven't watched Girls yet, but I know enough about it to pretty confidently say no part of Supergirl is anything like it.-I think my only consistent problem with this show is that parts of it is like watching an episode of Girls, a show I wouldn't watch with a gun to my head.
Well that was...stupid. Especially the DEO stuff. Superman generall doesn't know any hand to hand combat either (outside of some random versions I'm sure someone will bring up), but he's been doing pretty well for himself for the last 70+ years of stories. For a TV hero example, The Flash has no fist fighting ability, but that doesn't hold him back. But, I guess they have to pretend that the Supergirl has some reason to interact with her adopted sister and the DEO, when she really doesn't.
Cat Grant is almost Detective Lance levels of episode derailing horrible. I really hope karma kicks her arrogant ass. Hopefully with a meteor to the head, along with the adopted sister and henshaw. The stuff with Jimmy makes no sense. Its obviously he's famous in his profession. If Grant fired him, he could probably find a bunch of jobs in his line of work in National City alone, so it really shouldn't be any kind of threat at all.
One thing that's obvious at this point is that this show is aimed much more at the Felicity (Co-starring The Arrow) audience then it is the audience of The Flash. It has all the family drama with a bunch of horrible characters (including the a-hole authority figures) and mediocre writing. I have no idea why The Flash is so great while Arrow (post Season 2) and Supergirl are atrocious. I guess all the good writers wanted to be working on The Flash, so Arrow and Supergirl get what's left. I'll give Supergirl a few more episodes, just because I still really want a good superhero show based around a female hero. Instead, we get a show with worse writing than the 80s Supergirl movie. At this rate, I don't think we'll be getting a good live action female superhero based thing until the Captain Marvel movie gets made.

The twenty-something girl with the evil boss and confused job-life and family drama? Are you kidding? Without the aliens and gummint agents all you'd need to add is Lena Dunham nekkid and it would be a spin-off.

You must have a gun to your head quite a lot.![]()
The rest.. not so much right now. I know it's too early to judge but the elements surrounding Supergirl are B grade at best.. Villain of the Week type stories but with a weak major villain. Flash also uses this formula but the difference is that with Wells/Tom Cavanagh they have an amazing villain. I can't see the actress/character of Kara's aunt getting this good and interesting.. she's a one note "We'll destroy them all and then rule the ashes!" type which has been played to death.

Nah...I just have to watch a morning talk show with a female co-host and Lena Dunham as a guest. They tell you everything and then the female co-host spends the interview gushing. Kelly Ripa is especially fawning.
I thought Girls mostly focused on the characters' sex lives, and romantic issues, none of which have been dealt with on Supergirl in depth.I haven't watched Girls yet, but I know enough about it to pretty confidently say no part of Supergirl is anything like it.-I think my only consistent problem with this show is that parts of it is like watching an episode of Girls, a show I wouldn't watch with a gun to my head.

Huh, I guess I'm the only one who really likes the Winn character so far. He may be just another techie comic relief guy, but he's still had some fun lines, is incredibly darn likeable, and has a good rapport with Kara.
And it does appear to be a different enough role from Olsen, who's more of the mentor/love interest of the show.
Too bad it didn't retain that Big Bang audience. I hope the ratings remain steady. I'd like to see this show go the distance the way Arrow and The Flash are.Well the ratings dropped 29% and to 8.9 million viewers without Big Bang as a lead in. Which was expected but still a bit concerning...

It does indeed. It might have had a longer run on the CW but it wouldn't have the look it has.The show looks slick as hell though. I could see people who're turned off by other shows tuning into this one. I don't even mean the FX but just the overall look has major network sheen.
I'd like for Supergirl to go there but I'm not sure it will given that this show probably has a young audience as part of the viewership.I thought Girls mostly focused on the characters' sex lives, and romantic issues, none of which have been dealt with on Supergirl in depth.
It's a step up from Tiny Furniture.I have watched every episode of Girls.
Lena's character is an obnoxious know it all that forces herself into any situation as an expert, and then because she is a child in over her head, attacks everyone trying to help her not drown, and then finds the most graceless exit imaginable once everything around her is (emotionally and figuratively) on fire, while clinging to human trash she calls friends and a mega toxic boyfriend, still all the while certain that she is the centre of the universe, and that the universe is being unfair to shit on her when she is so special.
So, so special.
I just described any random season of girls, not a random episode.
Yeah, I suppose she could take someone back there. You just solved one of her issues.Woman of Steal, man of Kleenex. Although that fight room we saw this week, could very easily be turned into a fuck room. Just imagine that , if you could only have sex while getting Chemotherapy? That's odd right, I'm certain that that's really odd.
