Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I'm pleased to announce that I now have my wife completely hooked on Strange New Worlds! Not long after we met I got her started on DS9 and then TOS, which she enjoyed, but the other shows we tried didn't really catch her attention nearly as much. Because of that I normally watch everything else but those two on my own.

Last week while she was away for the evening I was rewatching a few episodes in our living room instead of my office, and she got home right as the holodeck episode started. She got a laugh out of the TOS homage and was interested enough to keep watching, at which point I suggested watching the first episode. At a little less than a week later we've already gotten to the first episode of season 3! She especially likes Uhura, La'an, and Spock so far. It's been a lot of fun getting to rewatch the show and seeing someone else's perspective on it!

It's nice hearing the show is getting new fans. I think that someone (might have been Jonathan Frakes) said that the Trek fans still skew older despite attempts by the new shows (Prodigy, SNW etc.) to bring in new younger fans.

I'm not really a social person, so I don't have a large friend group, but I can definitely see that among the people I know. Most of the younger people seem to know of it, but don't really know anything beyond the basics and don't really care to try it. My experience may be different than the norm though.

I did manage to turn three of my siblings and my wife into Star Trek fans over the years, so there are at least a few new younger fans!

This theory requires the further explanation of how this has caused basically ever Gorn to look like this. We saw dozens of these in Lower Decks.

Also the fact that a skeleton of this type of Gorn was in Lorca's ready room.

And then we have Slar in the Mirror Universe which would imply an entirely separate evolutionary development for the species between universes which would certainly be a first.

It is quite the headache.

I doubt that’s happening to Batel lol

They should just say their are two types of Gorn. These ones were exiled from the main Gorn Homeworld because they were to dangerous, even to them.

I doubt a Human/Gorn hybrid would be a danger to the original species, other than to eventually waterdown their DNA and not be "Pure" anymore.

Very much like how the Klingon augments were disparaged and shunned by 'Normal' Klingons.

Obviously, bigotry is not exclusive to the Human race.

They should have gone the other way

The 2013 Star Trek game and associated comics already opened that door, I believe there were extra-galactic Gorn and Milky Way Gorn.
