Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I never really liked big horkin' onion slices on top of a burger. Having them diced (kind of like what McDonald's or White Castle does), though, adds some nice flavor to an otherwise dull hockey-puck, without being overpowering.

Mixing chopped onions into the meat is something they did in my high school cafeteria.

So...no.

I like grilled/sauted onions on top of my burger.

If I'm gonna do onions they're gonna have to be separate slices or diced pieces. No mixing with the ground beef.

At McDonalds I would "flick" the onions off the burger. I could have asked for no onions, but my sister who worked for McDonalds said they hated that. "Have it our way!" was the joke at the restaurant.

It's not much different than mixing diced onions with hot dog meat at a factory "so you don't have to put the onions in with the chili separately." Bad idea, and no one should be mixing the condiment ingredients with the meat of anything that goes between two halves of bun.

I don't even care for onion rings that much.

The best Rings I ever had were at Burgerville in Washougal, Washington. They weren't even available all year because of the particular onion strain they only used because they were picky about quality. They're definitely worth the trip if within an hour.

Caveat: This was 10 years ago, I have no idea how they've changed since Covid. Seems like that's when a lot of favorite restaurants started tasting different or became barely edible.
