Batman and Robin was exactly the movie they set out to make, live action cartoon, heavily inspired by Batman '66's camp. He wasn't aiming for "The Dark Knight".

To be fair that doesn't take away from the part of him thinking it was a good story. I love the classic Batman and the 1966 film is one of my favourites from that franchise but it's just a very naff script. Not sure if Goldsman would admit that but George Clooney has at least recently stated that he thought the script was terrible and that he believes Goldsman would say the same.

That said, this is the guy who wrote the screenplay for Batman and Robin and he thought that was a good story... Admittedly, that was 25 years ago.

For example, what Akiva did to Bane in that movie could be seen as a warning about what he's going to do to the Gorn.

And? He also won an academy award for writing A Beautiful Mind. Maybe that's "the warning"

Batman fans would've attended in droves if Batman and Robin was actually a live action adaptation of Batman the Animated Series, so I'm not sure your use of the words live action cartoon is appropriate here.

Not many people were asking for more Batman 1966 in the 1990s so if Batman and Robin is indeed what Akiva set out to write, he wasn't aware of what the majority of the audience wanted.

BTAS isn't the only animated series, so live action cartoon more than applies.

Well, strangely enough I have not watched this weeks episode yet.

I think that I am having an early mid life crisis and I just do not know if I want to be a Star Trek fan or not anymore. I am just not feeling any excitement about Star Trek like I used to, I think that my fanhood has peaked with the end of Picard and now reached (over)saturation point.

If Strange New Worlds season 2 episode 1 is any good I may change my mind…. I’m going to try catch it during the week .

I was referencing Schumacher announcing before each take "Remember people, this is a cartoon!" Via megaphone.

I was under the impression most of what went wrong with Batman and Robin was Joel Schumacher's doing? Which is why his career seemed to stall afterwards while Goldsman continued to get steady work ever since.

Those Klingons can be explained away with some creative in-universe thinking but, yeah, they sucked.

My own headcannon is Burnham was an unreliable narrator, and we saw them as monsters because she did as well.
