Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I'd love to see Gary on SNW.
If you were being strict to statements or implications in TOS, then in later seasons of SNW Scotty would arrive as Chief Engineer, Sulu in astrophysics, Mitchell at the helm, and maybe Piper as the latest in a long list of CMOs between Boyce and McCoy who leave pretty soon. Uhura can either transfer off and then return, or work her way up onboard.

Kirk talking about meeting Pike at his promotion doesn't mean it's the only meeting. If someone asks me if I've met Tom Baker, I'd probably say 'Went to the pub with him,' without adding 'And other times at other pubs, and an interview, and getting his autograph at a stage door earlier, and...'

I was saying this elsewhere; It would have to be while Pike is away on a mission of sorts, and Kirk only deals with Spock or Number One.

Agree completely..... already annoyed that they've dumped Boyce, ignored Jose Tyler, and metamorphed Yeoman Colt..... Uhura, Chapel, M'Benga, Spock, now Kirk? Sulu amd Scotty easily could have been there too, if they keep going in this direction....

I kind of assumed that he did, and that the other ship is where he requested Mitchell as part of his first command.

I really hope they shy away from the Kirk cliches and pop culture version of him, and remember he was a serious officer and a stack of books with legs.
Actually Kirk can have multiple interactions with Pike and not violate anything stated on screen as long as their first meeting was when he got promoted to Fleet Captain. There is literally no dialogue stating that when he was made Fleet Captain that he no longer Captained the Enterprise none at all. Nor does stating that he meet him at that event preclude him from having interaction with him afterwards. He does make sure to state that Spock had years of contact with him. But that doesn't mean he didn't interact with him, it just implies it wan't for near the length of time that Spock knew him, or that his contact wasn't that close. And he can do it has Captain. There is nothing in Trek that states the Enterprise was Kirk's first command. Nothing.

Well, in Where No Man Has Gone Before, Elizabeth Dehner States that Spock and Gary Mitchell had served together for "years"...

I would really rather SNW focus on Pike, Spock, Number One and the Enterprise, but there is a purpose that introducing us to the rest of the originals series characters could serve.

The TOS crew never got an Encounter at Farpoint or an Emissary or a Caretaker to bring all the characters together and establish the storyline, we just jump in with the mission already underway. It's not something that was particularly necessary back in 1966, but in 2022 it is actually a conspicuous gap in the storyline of the franchise, and it's a story I would love to see.

Like to see Gary try and pull his "freezer unit" line on Number One.

As much as I wanted them to keep Kirk far, far away from this show..... I am absolutely dying to see more Gary Mitchell.

That, in particular, would be amazing. Him trying to hit on her in general, really. Any interactions at all, honestly. Wouldn't mind seeing Lee Kelso pop up, either. I always wanted a "year zero" set of adventures, either fan film or comic book, that dealt with the pre-NoMan status quo.

Is it possible Strange New Worlds will be depicting the incident with the Farragut? I believe season one has the show set in 2255/2256. If season two is in 2257, then the years would match.

In 2257, the Farragut suffered heavy casualties while on deep-space assignment at Tycho IV. While exploring the planet, a dikironium cloud creature was discovered, and would subsequently be responsible for the deaths of two hundred Farragut crewmen, including Captain Garrovick.

Kirk could be acting captain since the captain of the Farragaut died.

That sounds right to me. Disco S02 ended sometime in 2258, and the SNW S01 uniforms have been labelled as “circa 2259” on the displays on the Star Trek cruise.

So the Kirk appearance in S02 of SNW should be about 2260.
