Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Yup. ‪‪I watched it a little with my niece years ago, It wasn’t bad at first, melodramatic, but fun at least.

I think it suffered from one of the same issues that many genre shows pitched to a younger audience end up having, it just kept going on, and its characters, relationships and storylines would be built up, then reversed/undone, ad nauseum.

It was successful enough for The CW that it’s had two spin offs, one still going currently, and it has a fairly sizable following still. Could be a good draw to bring in some younger viewers who might not have watched otherwise, as @KirkusOveractus intimated.
Once I looked up who it was, then told my daughter, she got excited and is looking forward to seeing the series (but she loves TOS and the Kelvin movies anyway, so this is right in that area!)

Captain Decker could still have been a thing in 2259. The Commodore rank could have come closer to the time of TOS.

Now you should never assume that actors ages match up with characters but...

So this new actor is 39 - if this is set in 2259 and he's roughly the same age then the character would be 46 in 2267.

William Windom was 44 when he played Matt Decker and I don't think we ever got an on-screen age.

Edit: How the hell am I older than Matt Decker!!

Paul Wesley will be playing Kirk.

Time-displaced Kirk? Like a reverse TOS episode, seen from the SNW perspective? (That he’s wearing a SNW uniform makes this unlikely, but it could be fun for an episode, if they have to go to that well already.)
