Doesn't matter. She's a defined character with a defined arc - more or less.

It's hard to imagine that these people signed a talent like Celia Gooding just to do that, or that she'd take it. This show will consume big blocks of her time - it's not a movie every three or four years.

Could be wrong.

I don't think they are going to hold these characters/actors back at the altar of canon/continuity. If this show is wildly successful, they will take a different path going forward. They'd be silly not to.

I think a lot are chomping at the bit for a good, consistent paycheck. I don't know alot about Gooding, but being a young actress, I'm sure a consistent paycheck in a fairly high profile project has its allure.

My preference is for her to play a new character. Just something about the age and singing ability has me seeing Uhura.

I can absolutely taste the delicious tears if they end up giving this version of Spock and Uhura a romantic relationship as well.

You know, characters that were actually in the pilot episodes.

I was a fan of the Abrams Spock/Uhura. It is wild that it took someone forty years to pick up on that potential coupling based on their TOS interactions.

Same here. Otherwise the main cast is pretty much bullet proof. More so than usual.

Based on what I've looked at as far as casting, I don't think there is a Boyce, Piper or even Kirk in the bunch right now.

That's more a long the lines of what I would hope for.

They could right a TOS injustice by getting her in the captain's chair, for some reason. I always thought it was really shitty she was never left in command.

Yeah, for all of TOS's laudable strides forward for women the fact Uhura wasn't even in the Top 5 of bridge command was a shame.
