Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

why not just call it "Star Trek". I'm really hoping this show gets greenlit this year. and they fast track to come out by the end of Next year.

That's the title I've been pushing for. It makes perfect sense as it would be the series most-closely tied with TOS and that it features THAT Enterprise. I'd see the show logically ending with Pike's promotion and the handing off of the Enterprise to Kirk.

Don't tell fan circles that.

One shouldn’t make a show for either, but rather for oneself in the hope that others will like it. CBS should pick a showrunner, give them free rein to succeed or fail at their original idea for ST. The “Pike show” idea has too much consensus behind it.

And there we have it again: 2258-2263, like I said.

Honestly, all I want is more Anson Mount and more Pike. He could be a Fleet Captain in charge of Fleet operations and I would watch it.

Pike is a character I find highly interesting. So the more of him the better, in my opinion. I don't care about fan consensus.

Excuse me?

If they can be perceived by non-telepaths to be about my comments, say, because they appear immediately after and in the final effect address them like this…

…then obviously I have to respond, regardless of what you intended. If you want to reply to other people’s comments, quote them and make that clear from the start.
I must have missed the part where you get to tell me how to post.

Excuse me?

I just used your comment as an example of my claim earlier that the “Pike show” isn’t just a vague concept with many, many different interpretations, ranging from his childhood to final years, but usually this very specific idea that CBS should simply give us more of what seemed to work in DSC S2, perhaps even in place of what began as the flagship concept: Discovery.

I must have missed the part where you get to tell me how to post.

And I the part where you get to tell me to mind-read. If you’d rather reply like this than (gasp!) go back and try to perceive the effect of your comments in a post that just so happens to follow mine, if you can’t accept constructive criticism on how to clarify what you’re tying into, then I can’t help you and you’ll just have to keep explaining your actual intent in the future.

Funny that Pike's command are the same years Kelvin Timeline Kirk served as Captain of the Enterprise.

That could well condemn us to even MORE reality shows like LegoMasters and Gordon Ramsey.....always pretending something of value is at stake.

I'm sorry, did you think we're going to escape that sentence?

I hope that if this ever gets made it will have more standalone stories. DSC and PIC have very arc-heavy storylines so it would be nice to have something different. Maybe something like the final season of ENT. Two or three episode storylines and then move onto the next one. Classic Enterprise arrives at the planet, something happens, stuff gets resolved and then move to the next one.

This imho is the best approach.
Modern television usually tend to have 2 main plots going on: the serie plot and the season plot. ENT had this for instance, but it wasn't well developed until late season 3.

Doctor Who have this, and I think that anything releated to TOS and early TNG era should take with both hands inspiration on Doctor Who later seasons (2005 onward) because it's the only show that stayed faithful to his episodic nature while still being loved by most of his fans.

So
So, I don't know where else to post this, so I'm choosoing this thread.

I am currently in an "argument" on facebook with someone concerning Ansen Mount.

They claim that "CBS fired Anson months ago for getting into it with somebody on set."

I called that a bold faced lie, and was then told that:

1) It came out of his mouth.

and that

2) "the fact he was removed from Discovery was already in the news back in March 2019. The official line from CBS/Klutzman was he was to leave in order to "keep canon" with what happened in TOS. A joke considering he would not know canon if it fell on him. But there have been several reports of late including from Anson himself, he had creative difference with Klutzman and which led to his leaving the show "earlier then expected"..

Which is not at all what the initial comment claimed, but still, this is all news to me - can anyone here give any background info on these unfounded rumors?
Someone on another forum claimed Mount took a swing at Kurtzman and may have connected. Anson has changed his tune recently but after filming ended he was very open about what a miserable experience it was to work on Discovery.

Do-it-yourself Pike show: watch everything else with a Pike actor in it and pretend it’s Pike having illusions on Talos IV.
