Those little synopsis are as much for casuals as they are for us. My wife wouldn’t know what a Gorn is, but she’s pretty sure to understand ‘deadly enemy’.

But if she saw Part 1, she would have an idea who the Gorn are. And if she hasn't seen Part 1, I would recommend that before watching Part 2 and then she will still know what the Gorn are.
I seem to be in the minority who feels that season 2 is either as good or even better than season 1.
Not that imdb ratings necessarily reflect reality, but the first season has an average rating of 7.86. While season 2 received 7.97. So I'm apparently not alone.
Just finished a rewatch in preparation for season 3 . And on second viewing, Season 1 , I like slightly less and Season 2 slightly more. Both are good but I much prefer Season 2 . Mainly for 2 reasons. The actors seem more settled and there's better chemistry between the characters. Not sure if Covid played a role in Season 1 but there was a slight disconnect at times.. . I also think Season one had more "run of the mill" storylines . Both seasons are still miles ahead of most modern Trek in my opinion.

It's very good. It's just not very balanced. And Pike is often a less dynamic and more minor character.
Not disagreeing with Pike but I thought he had a bit more impactful " secondary moments " in S2. I personally didn't see a problem on how season 2 was balanced.
As far as I know, The Ready Room is not returning.

Just saw this in my YouTube recommendations.
We know that 'Among the Lotus Eaters' is still in 2259 because the Rigel mission is referred to as 5 years ago.
Doing an episode count, it seems we get 14 SNW episodes in 2259, and 7 in 2260 before jumping into 2261.
All this is going to give future Trek timeline editors a headache.
****, the wedding bell blues in the 2nd episode refers to Pike and Batel doesn't it?

Although something else to consider, in the discussion thread for the recent SNW novel down in the Trek Lit forum, author James Swallow revealed there's a plot detail from S3 that gets foreshadowed on a certain page in the novel. That particular page does have a character lamenting the fact they're not yet married...
I love Christine's get-up in the Dr. Korby clip. And, yes, the music is a brilliant evocation of the TOS music.

SNW's incidental background and mood music is so TOS in feel and structure that it's one of the best things about the show. Playful, whimsical and otherworldly. Early TNG also had music along those lines but by Season 3 had jettisoned most of those musical cues.
I just watched the TOS Korby episode for the first time in preparation for SNW. Nothing ever outright says that Spock never met Korby before. There's a shot at the beginning of Uhura giving Spock what looks like a sympathetic look after Korby answers the comm and is revealed to be alive (i.e. the android but no one knows yet) and Chapel responds happily. At the time this probably didn't mean anything but now we can say that this was Uhura being sad for Spock now that the other man is back in Chapel's life.
