Even the DSC starships don't all have the same grey or bronze hull colors so I don't know why they had to make the Enterprise charcoal grey and darker even than the TMP Era Refit. They could have left the color the way it was in TOS and the later series interpretations and just added more hull texture and details.

The more they overwork the plumbing the easier it is to stop up the drain.

Looks like the same hill textures you'd see on any of the TOS Movie era ships to me.

Which suggests why you're satisfied with this - you don't notice the specifics much at all. That's fine, but you can't expect people who do pay attention to agree that this kludge is wonderful.

the Hero ship deserves a custom designed hull texture. That's the sort of thing they might skimp on for a guest spot on Discovery, but really should be upgraded for the show. The ship image from the Pike/Horse poster is too obscured to really make an assessment on if they have upgraded it or not.

Exactly. The Discoprise was a rush job. And now they're stuck with it? That's an odd way to approach something this important: anything and everything in visual design from previous Trek shows is fodder for revision and improvement no matter how successful it was at the time, on the grounds that it's outdated or some such foolishness, but a silly false start on STD is to be held inviolate?

Everything about the CG assets for the Discovery itself was obviously refined and upgraded after that lackluster first season.

Hell, they dumped STD's knock-off version of the Enterprise uniforms. Fix the goddamn ship.

She doesn't need to be fixed, she's fine the way it is. She looks beautiful.

Ships are one of my favourite parts of the franchise, I pay attention fine.

It does though. It doesn't share a texture from any of the other DSC ships.

Here is my lightened up Discoprise. People that don't like it on the show often say there is something better about it here. The lighter tone? I ask. Yes! They say. I took other liberty's as well. Better IMGS coming soon!

This would be the perfect color for her. The same as TOS and the later series versions of the TOS starship. She looks right without looking completely right.

Just because I can't say it enough, I love the Discoprise. It's no Connie refit, but it's gorgeous.

I like STO's take on the concept model. They also made the hull texture slightly brighter

Glad they included that in the STO options. Much better configuration, IMO.

Although I really kind of wish they didn't include the "Excelsior fins" on the impulse deck. Very anachronistic for mid-23rd C designs. Eaves must have really liked that little flourish to include it on nearly all his DSC designs.

Change the hull color to the TOS color, remove the Excelsior-style saucer section "bumps" and straighten the pylons. That would fix about 95% of the issues with the external appearance.
