I'm done though... this dance has ended and I'm going to bed soon.

I also loved it. Really great opening episode. Pike has a almost quirky way about him I find really interesting . Like all the new characters and Spock is better here than he was on Discovery. So it's official. There is now 2 Trek shows that are the only true Trek show today. The Orville and Strange New Worlds.

With that said I am a Trek fan so now I must do my duty by providing some complaining. The T'Pring thing they messed up I think. From what I understand Spock and her were set up by their parents because Vulcans have Arranged Weddings. Also I think Spock might be to hot with his shirt off. No way did NImoy have that kind of bod. Of course you had the magical DNA thing they used instead of just using makeup and masks and stuff like they were still doing in the 24th century.

They were telepathically bonded at the age of 7 which isn't a full arranged marriage. They meet up at least twice as adults to finalize the plans and attempt to become husband and wife.

I LUV how Vulcan Females are the ones who are expected to do the proposing.
Spock was actually worried that she wasn't going to.
They even had T'Pring show a bit of that underlying logical snark we saw from her in TOS.

I was kinda hoping that her proposal gift was the IDIC symbol necklace, but it didn't appear to be.

 it was nothing like the Orville

The stories aren't as inventive as The Orville, but then it's still only late Star Trek. What they're able to do, they're doing with a lot of style and confidence. The latter is one of the most amazing things about SNW at this point in its history.

The "warp bomb" moment was both unexpected, to me, and as a long-time devotee of Trek really chilling and horrific. So, these goobers took the central miracle that makes everything in that future possible, and they made a thing to blow people up because Of Course They Did! They're us.

Add to that Pike's approach to persuading the Kileyites, which was diametrically the opposite of Picard's and even different than Kirk's, and the damn story surprised me a number of times. Star Trek doesn't surprise me any more. It disappoints me instead.

But not today.

Humility is a virtue that's been sorely lacking in Star Trek for a long time - along with a lot of other flaws in their narrative stance. Pike's got buckets of it.

Is it so hard to ask to stay with the regular system? I'm not sure why I even NEED to do so when it should be obvious, and yet somehow....here we are! Just stop defending this!

Your rage is misdirected. I created the topic, and made the error with no help from staff.

So just curious, how large IS the Enterprise? Is there a way to scale the window sizes inside Pike's quarters with the outside window panes along the saucer edge? Is the Enterprise now the same scale as the TOS one or still larger?

The scale provided to merchandisers works out to 442 meters/1450 feet in length, and that works out pretty well where the model details are concerned. Window placement isn't bad, but they always fudge this and have inconsistencies of scale and placement in Trek designs - the ships hew to a certain aesthetic.

One wonders just how much of the planet would have been left if they had set it off.

Heh ...
I thought you did it on purpose.

OOpsie.

Pike is a cowboy his personality is very close to the original captain concept by Rodenberry before it got onto tv because westerns were the top tv at the time.

Also only things i didn't like are little nit picky things that dont effect the plot, like the badge stuff thats been a free for all since tos and i dont care anymore.

One thing that's just not to my liking is how the bridge is lit up with lights, its just an aesthetic I dont care for but thats it
