STC: To Boldly Indiegogo

Well said in your now "locked" thread.

Thanks but I just noticed that someone locked the thread and is now preventing me from posting to the thread that I started for myself.

I was going to post material from various medical associations on media violence and children, but because someone locked the thread, I can not.

Candidly this really wasn't the thread or forum to be getting into your complaint. I think another forum focused on this board's issues would be more appropriate. Perhaps the Questions, Suggestions & Feedback forum or even perhaps Miscellaneous.

If you want to create a thread about age-appropriate (if any) violence and sexual content for families and children in today's media, please find the appropriate forum for that discussion. (Keeping watertight compartments watertight and all that.). Perhaps the "TV and Media" forum would be good, or the "General Trek Discussion" forum if you want to confine it to Star Trek specifically. Alternatively, you could take it to "The Neutral Zone" forum if you anticipate some heated discussion. The forums that Warped9 suggests might be appropriate as well.

Putting such discussions in the Fan Production forum seems wide of the mark for such an interesting topic--especially since it has implications for actual CBS/Paramount productions going forward.

If you want to restart your thread in a more appropriate forum, I'd encourage you to do so.

I'm far more excited about seeing a new STC episode than I am over the forthcoming 2017 series.

CBS is really going to have to earn my interest back.

Vic has just announced on FB that "consideranle private donations" have allowed them to reach their goal.

Wow! Could this mean they are wholly done with crowdfunding fir STC?
Or just that they've made it to 350,000? I'm inclined to think the latter, because this morning they reminded us we can still donate through the website.

In any case, incredible news!!!

I'd say this too, but even so - that is one hell of a donation! Time to celebrate I guess - that should take the load off his shoulders and make up for the worry of the past weeks.

Although now my excuse for "giving you a hug because you need one right now" for next weekend has now vanished ;) Ah well, I'll give him one anyway!

Celebratory hug!

More than likely they'll keep any Croundfund campaigns they have already started going (and take direct donations for Productions on their website too) - but won't launch any new KS/Indegogo/GoFundMe et. al.) campaigns. Nice to know they say they've met their goal and will finish their plans for a 13 episode run.

That's tremendous news. STC set the bar for fan films, and I hope to see much more from them.

The bar for production quality perhaps. I'd say they haven't set a bar in terms of story quality. STC suffers from all the tropes and flaws in their scripts as any other fan film. "Lolani" certainly being the best of their stories, and it's unfortunate that their subsequent episodes haven't been quite as decent.

I'd argue "World Enough and Time" is the best fan film ever made but that no production even approaches STC's consistent quality. Their only "poor" outing, in my opinion, is 'Pilgrim of Eternity.' As for tropes, they have plenty, but they're largely TOS tropes as opposed to those of other fan productions. Just my opinion.

Someone filmed the premiere of Pilgrim at the Phoenix Comicon and the QA session and posted it on youtube. For me, watching the premier with the audience reactions is the best way to view it.

That's great about the private donations.. no percentage taken from Indiegogo and I would bet it's a pretty nice tax write-off.
