STC: To Boldly Indiegogo

Kickstarter, I thought, was different in that you could change your perk level up or down at any time because the money wasn't transferred till the end. I never tried getting multiple perks on Kickstarter (and I'm not sure it's possible under the same registration), but I have on Indiegogo. Even under the same registration, it seems that the different donations are counted as separate "donors."

Doing some of the Kickstarter fulfillment for our most recent Kickstarter campaign, I can tell you that the same people/users come up multiple times under different donation levels. It's annoying when I send out a perk and then later, I see that the same individual also has a different perk due them in another donor level. I could have consolidated shipping costs if I had noticed the same individual appeared multiple times.

In our case, the number of these duplicate donors is pretty minimal. Out of 788 donors, I'd be surprised if more than a dozen are duplicates.

Did the backer count go up the second time? I think it does, maybe even when you upgrade to a higher perk.

I'm thinking of making monthly or bi-monthly contributions to STC after the campaign is over. They're able to use more of the funds without Indiegogo taking its cut.

Uh-oh. STC just stated that they can't extend the fundraising beyond May 4 if they haven't met the $350K goal. So this really is it for the Indiegogo.

Well, with Indiegogo they get to keep what they've raised, right? So we'll see how far this will take them. Maybe Eps. 8 and 9 as well as fnishing off Ep. 7? I'm assuming Ep. 6 is essentially complete.

That means they might not have to raise anymore funds until next year and perhaps after ST2017 has debuted. A lot could change in a year.

Yeah, a typical shooting schedule for them seems to be two episodes between November and February, so who knows? Maybe Axanar will have been resolved by then.

In the other thread discussing the lawsuit (at great length) the point is raised how AP openly and frequently badmouths Vic and accuses him of making every effort to sabotage AP and Axanar. AP is accusing Vic of the very thing AP himself is actually doing while there is not one shred of evidence Vic has done any such thing.

If Vic were badmouthing AP and Axanar you can bet word of it would get around.

AP could resent Vic simply because Vic has done everything AP has failed to do. Vic also comports himself in a far, far classier manner than AP could ever understand. They are nowhere on the same level.

Those claims do not ring true to me. We can see from Vic's treatment of the subject of NV, how he handles other productions, that he does not like - he follows the old rule to say nothing, if you have nothing nice to say.

True I remember "upgrading" my donation on Kickstarter to a new level without having to "re-register".

Well with that in mind why not change the "donation" part of STC website so when peeps donate they can pick some of the most popular 'rewards' from the Indiegogo campaign up to and including 'walk on roles'? That way you have a never ending fundraiser that people can be directed to when EP6 premiers?

I doubt that but everyone is running scared now so they probably will not.

Is there are distinction between using the TOS cast's images to promote the series and promote the fundraising? I would think it's a very fine line.

STC has earned itself sufficient cred that they shouldn't need to piggyback so obviously on the TOS recognition factor.

Shatner may simply object to his likeness being used without his permission, which is his right. Moreover, that image is the property of CBS, so there's another potential problem.
