Does seem like a fine line. Would leaving the Indiegogo references off the TOS tribute posts take care of that?
At this point they need only another $5400 to make $175,000. Here's hoping.Hope they can at least make it past 175K tomorrow. Not holding my breath for 200, but that would be nice. Under prevailing conditions.
Shatner's tweet appears to be related to a Facebook posting by STC which was honoring the start of Star Trek's shooting schedule in 1966, 50 years ago. I follow STC on FB pretty closely. I didn't see that they were doing any sort of fund raising with that particular tweet. Does anyone have a copy of the original posting on Facebook?
An educational posting by a non-profit is fair use. Still, I see that Mignogna honored Shatner's request. But, Shatner's comments may have the wrong impression that his likeness was directly tied to the fund raising, which it was not.
Also, If Shatner doesn't want to be affiliated with family-friendly entertainment, his loss. shrug.

Lots of fan films have used Trek Alumni, I'm sure Shatner has had offers, but he's never taken part in one. I think it's reasonible that some one might see a picture of Shatner and think he's involved. I also think that at this point if William Shatner hasn't taken part in any fan films he doesn't want to be linked to them.
Hmm... Or perhaps someone has been passing disinformation to Shatner just to stir the shit? I thought Shatner and Vic were okay with each other.
Nah, who would do a thing like that?
It is interesting that someone from Shatner's office was monitoring the Star Trek Continues Facebook Group. It suggests that someone screen captured the post. But, Shatner's tweet was really only showing the photo. It wasn't showing what the posting person wrote. Also, the photo referenced by Shatner was unlikely to be hosted on the STC website. The reality is that the image is probably just a URL referenced from the Star Trek site itself.

But, then again, this attitude from Shatner may be the exact reason why Nimoy had the conn for so long. Takei has talked about this ego for decades.
Well, whaddaya know. They are only about $1700 from $175,000. They got a mini suge at the end after all.
Awesome!Well they made it to $175,000 and they have just announced that even though they didn't make it to $200,000 they will be releasing the Ep. 6 teaser to backers.
Nice!![]()
