Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

I have no problems with TOS movies callback in PIC, even if it really does not fit.
Given all the TOS era feature film ship models/designs actually used/shown in the original TNG TV series itself, (Excelsior Class, Miranda Class, Obereth Class among others) from 1987 - 1994, I fail to understand your argument that call backs to the TOS feature films 'don't fit' a TNG era production.

(And no my post is not sarcasm.)

Maybe somebody snuck in the models and it was only later that they realised what can of worms they've opened? Similar to the UFP faces logo in DIS.

He can say it isn't, but from alot of angles, looks exactly like his blueprints..
Just pay the man, not going to break the bank..

Also Pay Mark Rademaker for the inclusion of his Aventine as well..

If that’s the case, then someone went to an awful lot of trouble to custom-make at least four of those models for the scene, since they’re not EM ships. Either way, I’m glad they did :)

I took that reference to "the original Titan space frame" to mean the 23rd century ship, which is why this one looks retro. Or does it mean Riker's ship?
I asked the same question of Bill Krause - Titan-A / Shang designer. He said that it was not the original Titan space frame. That made the most sense to me especially after the Dominion War. It would make sense to pull mothballed space frames out and refit the heck out of them. Who knows. Sean - designer or Riker's Titan - did an illustration flipping the nacelles to show how it was feasible to reuse parts of the space frame from Riker's Titan.

It would be FJ's Estate (he died in 1994) and CBS/Paramount has already had a few copyright mistakes with them.
The Estate is not likely to let CBS/Paramount off lightly.

I would imagine that lawyers from both sides are already talking about how this one will be resolved.

The big clue is that TrekYards pulled their YT video about it.

In Season 2 the Stargazer is called a refit in dialogue. That is what Tosk is referring to.
I"ve got to believe that there's some confusion by what refit actually means. The writers seem to be using it as a "complete rework / redesign of a ship type or class".

... and that has been the Trek Standard since The Motion Picture.

Nothing new to see here.
The refit Enterprise could have had a fair amount of internal structure remaining from the original (framework, corridors, etc). There's been a few fan vids showing a process where they strip the hull plating and "add on" to the saucer & secondary hull, then replace the nacelles and bridge module. Similar to the old straight deck carriers being converted to angled deck.

I think the term "refit" is OK for that example. Using it for the new Stargazer & Titan A shows a lot of confusion on their part.

It seems like they want the audience to assume that this Titan is the same ship from Nemesis that went unseen, because they may be thinking that the audience for PIC is not the audience for LDS. The whole ‘refit’ comment was just a way to sidestep that issue. And heck, if each Paramount+ Trek series takes place in its own little universe, then there’s really nothing inconsistent here. It’s not like the producers of these shows seem to be worried about inconsistencies between the shows, so why should we be?

We shouldn't.

Any more than I worried about inconsistencies with other Trek shows. Well, I did for a time in high school. But, yeah, even as a youngster inconsistencies in Trek stood out. Does it make it less fun? You be the judge

True but this is not TNG. Those ships were used to save money. Plus ~40 years later and how many TOS movie ships are still in service?

Hey it happened in Universe. Whatever the reason all those ships served in the 23rd and 24th century. It was all on screen. Live with it.

As for Picard season 3 'not being TNG' - please, give me a break. It's finally the 'TNG Reunion' all the misty eyed TNG fans wanted in Picard from day one. Picard S3 is nothing but TNG.
