Of that, I also feel reasonably certain.
Some people have gotten the eaglemoss model already. Looks like a lot of the detail on the bottom of the STO model wasn't added by them, it was there in the show
At some point in the design phase it was called 'Neptune Class', and the front part of the saucer was a shuttlebay. It also started as a background ship.
well that explains a lot....
The design not the model.
BTS Info on the Inquiry via the Eaglemoss booklet:
Well, that really does explain a lot.
I wonder what the original plan was for the finale then.
Probably a cliffhanger with Oh’s fleet ready to bombard the planet.
To be honest, I'm not too sure they had any idea how to end it when they began. Trek, especially in the Berman years, would start 2-parters and not even really about the second part until they got back from their holiday. It's something I wish they'd work on. Start at the end and work backwards.
When the opportunity presents itself, I'm looking forward to getting the STO version through GamePrint. The ship appears more detailed in game.
Disc's ships generally look like the half-baked crap that STO tends to put out. For every Regent or Odyssey class they come out with they also put out a half-dozen designs that are like "slap some vaguely Federation shapes together and call it a day".
Well that's an uncommon opinion if I've ever seen one.
For one the Regent is ugly, and 2, almost every time there's a new ship design a majority of posts on reddit/twitter/official forums are positive towards it.
Not a fan of the Sovereign line, I take it? That's all a Regent is, a modernized Sovereign.
There might be a few (like the Pathfinder skin for the Intrepid class that are pretty good, but there's also garbage like the Stargazer and this monstrosity
As in all things, though, your mileage may vary.
How then, did it happen that we DID get a new Starfleet ship at Mars?
Hey, don't you be badmouthin' the Serenity, you Yī zhǐ dog gǒu de érzi!
(takes off his coat of a brownish color. rolls up sleeves)
You get him/her!
I'd prefer not to see name-calling, even if it is in jest...and another language.
Maybe Eaves didn't design that one? He's not the only ship artist on the show.
Those are all designs that came with the game in 2010. Almost none of the designs from launch looked good, almost all the Fed designs that have come out in the last 7 years or so has looked great.
I like the Sovereign itself, I don't like any of the variants in STO, other than the Refit based off John Eaves' concept art.
