    No.

It actually has a nice symmetrically pleasing shape to it for a hero ship, and certainly much nicer than many hero ships in other franchises (Razorback, Serenity, etc).

Yes, it's actually well known that this change was made.

Just because its nicer than other ugly ships doesn't make it visually appealing on screen for me.

    Mileage will vary.

In fact, it's been posted in several interviews not only with Ante but also Michael Chabon, I'm 99% sure its been posted in this thread at least once.

    April:
The direct quote from Chabon was:

"There were three new classes of Starfleet ships approved for the climactic sequence. Whether all three can ultimately be seen or distinguished in the final screen version is unclear.

    • A heavy cruiser: the Inquiry-class. That's the Zheng He.

    • A carrier cruiser, similar to the Inquiry but with two distinctive forward 'prongs' or 'horns' off the elongated 'saucer': the Equity-class.

    • An explorer, with a distinctive 'open' or ring-style saucer: the Seeker-class."

I believe a comment from the VFX team (possibly Ante) led to the ship question being phrased as it was:

I've also talked with at least 2 people involved in the above links so I do have a bit of knowledge from that as well, but it was in fact public.

That was not what I was talking about. I was referring to @Tuskin38 's quote about the Inquiry fleet not being part of the story until later in development, which was what you quoted in response.

Nah. That’s a lie going all the way back to the Council of Nicaea when they suppressed the Gnostic Gospels. Mary Magdalene was his wife and they had a daughter, Sarah.

Do you even read what you’re replying to or quoting?

There’s only 2 variants of the Inquiry in that episode with physical differences and neither of them match what Chabon described as the only differences are nacelle designs. Chabon even says he doesn’t know if they made it into the episode.

Ben Robinson also says in the interview YOU linked that there’s only 4 variants in the final episode. 2 with physical differences (just the nacelles as mentioned above) and 2 which just have different textures.

Neither the Seeker or Equity class show up in the episode. Only the Inquiry with one variant with different nacelle designs is in there.
