I think the stuff with Rick in last night's episode is a perfect example of why just randomly handing out the JSA stuff to people she barely knows is a really bad idea.
I'm kind of hoping they tone Beth down a bit, right now she'd kind of on the border between annoying and funny, leaning more towards funny, but I could see her starting to lean more towards annoying over time.
I knew the guy meeting with Sharp was screwed as soon as he took the chocolate coin.
So it was kind of iffy before, but after what happened at the party it's pretty clear Henry is definitely inheriting his father's powers. Have they said yet if Henry, Cindy, or any of the other kids will end up as a second generation ISA? It definitely feels like that's what they're setting up.

I don't mind if they replace the pills with an hourglass. I just wish it weren't a glowing, humming hourglass that "reacted" to Rick in much the same way the Cosmic Staff reacted to Courtney. It's repetitive.

Have they said yet if Henry, Cindy, or any of the other kids will end up as a second generation ISA? It definitely feels like that's what they're setting up.

Cindy is based on a villain named Shiv, though.

I knew Henry Jr. had powers in the comics, but I didn't realize he was a hero. I wonder if he'll get some kind of redemption on the show then?

Over the 15 or so years between ROTS and that episode of Rebels, I'm not so sure. Look how much Kenobi aged.

Maul got cut in half and lived in a cave eating bugs for 20 years.

Kenobi also lived in a cave, but he had power/water, and once a month charged down to the Wookie Brothel in Mos Eilsey for the early bird senior citizen discount.

I think they have had characters who were bad guys in the comics as good guys in the shows, so there's always a chance he could go in the opposite direction, and be a good guy in the comics but a bad guy on the show. Was Killer Frost still a villain in the comics when she became a hero on The Flash? I know I've seen some comics where she was a hero, but I think those all came out after her turn in the show.

The original two Killer Frosts, Crystal Frost and Louise Lincoln, were both villains, but the Caitlin Snow character introduced in The New 52 in 2013 was a STAR Labs scientist who started as a villain but reformed. Although I think they didn't reform her in the comics until after she became a character in the show (though before she became Killer Frost in the show).

Looks like Cindy might become Shiv before the end of the season, the title for the July 7th episode is Shiv Part 2.

Times change. Audiences change. Stories change. A hero popping pills to beef up his strength plays very differently now than it did back in the 1940s, before steroids and sports-juicing scandals and such. You can't just ignore that for tradition's sake.

They're not obliged to hang onto stuff that's aged badly just because. You can update this stuff as necessary. And, if this case, you should get rid of the pill-popping business.

I think it depends on what it is, but I also don't think the pill is offensive. It's just a means of accessing powers. I have no issue with an update, but maybe it's the hourglass that just doesn't work. They could have had a little dialogue about it, stating that it used to be a pill. Plus, what happens if he loses the bulky hourglass? A patch might have made more sense. A little dialogue about improved tech.

Maul recovered quite well from that. He was doing well when Obi Wan ended it.

It was actually a very well done move, because it mirrored the fight with Qui Gonn.

They probably did, I'm sure. It's just that the only comics I've read about these characters are the ones that tied into Crisis back in the '80s.

Although the hour glass, was to measure one hour.

So he didn't try to leap over a building, and end up falling off a building, becuase Rex thought that he had another 30 seconds.

In the 30s/40s clocks ticked.

Flavor Flav would never have been able to sneak up to and apprehend armed bank robbers.

Pretty sure the hourglass has been there as part of the outfit from the get-go, but I don't think it was meant to contain the power, just let him keep track of how long he had left before his powers wear off. Which even in the 40's seems a bit anachronistic since mechanical clocks had been commonplace since the 1800's.

Mind you, the origin stories from back then are pretty much all very very hokey, if not outright dumb. I mean IIRC Jay Garrick gets to be the original Flash because he inhaled some heavy water...how is that even connected?!

Speaking of Flash, I doubt we'll be getting modern inheritors of ALL of the old JSA. For one thing, even though we've seen Alan Scott and the lantern, I don't think they're allowed to use any modern GL or even refer to the mythos. I remember reading that there were some very specific conditions for Arrow's finale and what they were and were not allowed to show or even allude to with that Diggle coda.

Do we have a definitive roll call for all of the JSA members that are 100% dead, as opposed to just MIA, presumed dead, or just retired? I think we only actually saw Wildcat, Dr Mid-Night, Hourman & Starman in that battle. We only have Pat's word that the others are dead too...and it seems clear he wasn't as much in the loop as he seemed to think.

The hourglass is connect to the third Hourman, Tyler, an android from the future built by Rex Tyler's company and modeled on his DNA. Tyler also gave Rick an hourglass that gave him visions of the future It also allowed him to visit his father in an hour time outside of the timestream.

I agree with others who are saying the hourglass is dumb. Rex Tyler is said to be a brilliant chemist, but how exactly is this hourglass supposed to work? It's not inhaled, eaten or injected. So it just works by proximity? Why did it react to Rick's presence? Where is it getting unlimited power, since it presumably will never run out, unlike pills, and doesn't need to be recharged? Is it a cold fusion hourglass?

I'm not liking that Doctor Mid-Nite somehow has these supergoggles but has never heard of security features. Any would-be supervillain would be able to pick them up and use them. Where exactly is it getting all this information anyway? It's been in storage for ten years yet is completely up to date on who's who in Blue Valley, not to mention it somehow knows exactly what happened to Rex Tyler, which not even the JSA databanks should have known. it's as if it's like the Eye of Agamotto, an all-seeing oracle or something.

Hina Khan is extremely distracting. That is the worst fake violin playing I've seen in ages. One would think she could go to a violin teacher for a couple of hours just to pick up some pointers. It doesn't take much fake it convincingly when that's the main power of your character.

I honestly get the necessity for the hourglass, because without it, Hourman is basically a juicer. Not a good look for a superhero show aimed at teens when one hero's powers are "takes performance enhancing drugs."

Effectively that's still what happens but the hourglass lets them at least make it look "magical". (see also: Shazam, He-Man, She-Ra, etc. etc.)

I could see them possibly avoiding doing to much Green Lantern stuff since the HBOMax show is coming up soon.

The comics have gone back and forth on what (if any) connection there is between the golden age Green Lantern and the silver age Green Lantern Corps.
Personally, I think the two are mutually exclusive. You can have one or the other be separate thing, not both. If you have both in the same universe, there has to be some kind of connection because it's way too much of a coincidence otherwise. I mean it's not just the name, it's also the lantern battery, the ring, and the green light powers.

Except it was glowing even when it was several feet away from him while it was inside a duffel bag in a car and he was outside. And why didn't it glow when she confronted him with it immediately afterward? It couldn't have been depleted already because it wasn't used in the meantime.
