I mean in the context of stories. Clearly it's a different institution and with a different charter and set of rules, but in the show itself it'll likely be the military muscle to back up the "armed explorers."
Whereas, I would rather watch all of Discovery again than ever subject myself to the vast majority of Voyager, Enterprise or Picard.

SFA will go on as long as Paramount want. And if they want it to last five seasons, it will. And it could.
S3 - junior year. S4 - senior year. S5 - the equivalent of Kelvinverse Spock's role in ST'09.
Looks like Lura Thok is 50 years old as of Season 1, which would have been unimaginably ancient a lifespan for her purebred Jem'Hadar ancestors in the late 24th century!

Assuming Jem'Hadar biologically lived short lives and it wasn't because of their tendancy to die in battle.Looks like Lura Thok is 50 years old as of Season 1, which would have been unimaginably ancient a lifespan for her purebred Jem'Hadar ancestors in the late 24th century!
The War College is just the late 32nd century analogue of the MACOs of the 22nd and the Starfleet Infantry of the 23rd.
I hope we get a clearer image of this so we can read the bio information.Looks like Lura Thok is 50 years old as of Season 1, which would have been unimaginably ancient a lifespan for her purebred Jem'Hadar ancestors in the late 24th century!

while it's too early to say 'love', i enjoyed both episodes so far, and it shows potential.Nobody is loving this show that's for sure..

How does that work??Not sure if it was ever officially made canon but I also think Starfleet Marines were suppose to be a thing in the 24th century as well.

Gotta have your Slytherin. From what I gathered in Episode 2, the War College was formed during the Burn, and was the only organization training of Starfleet officers during that time.
I wonder if we'll see the War College fold into SFA at some point. I also imagine the two schools will be depicted as a rivals.
the hate is particularly bad on X and Facebook. The YouTube views for the premiere have gone up a bit after the unimpressive first day, it's on 165k now. Still not exactly going gangbusters, but looking healthier than might have been expected given the first 24 hours.
I'm very disconnected from the online Star Trek community at large so I don't come across the bulk of the hate that most people talk about, but on the places I do visit (and among my friends), the consensus reaction seems to be "the show's not amazing but it's better than you might have expected and worth a watch", which is perhaps the kind of reputation that will help to draw viewers in slowly over the course of the show's first season.
