If the whole family stuck to just those species then with eight centuries of interbreeding you could surely get close enough to where it's just easier to say three thirds.Can't really be a third. One is half, the others are quarters

Well, no, in DS9 it was said on several occasions that the whole law affecting Julian and his parents was a Federation-wide regulation against genetic resequencing and enhancements to Federation citizens. That includes more than just humans.

I went to an All Boys, Catholic, Military High school back in the early to mid 70's ... disrespect was frowned upon in the most severe manner, but it still happened.I grew up in middle class suburbia in the 70s. Lot of disrespect in the classroom.
