Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

That's how she was described, but it is Trek science and biology, so....yeah. :)
Given the ban on genetic manipulation across the Federation, how did any Human/Alien Hybrids exist in the first place?

Enterprise cemented the fact that if a Vulcan and Human mated, it would still require some method of genetic manipulation to produce a viable embryo/offspring that wouldn't die in infancy.

No it didn't.

Trip: "There's something else. I spoke with Phlox. It turns out there was a flaw in the technique that Paxton's doctors used in the cloning process. Human DNA and Vulcan DNA, Phlox says there's no medical reason why they can't combine. So if a Vulcan and a human ever decided to have a child, it'd probably be okay. And that's sort of comforting."

(The final line of the series, as far as I'm concerned. :))

I grew up in middle class suburbia in the 70s. Lot of disrespect in the classroom.
I went to an All Boys, Catholic, Military High school back in the early to mid 70's ... disrespect was frowned upon in the most severe manner, but it still happened.

It was a badge of honor to be smacked around by one of the Brothers for being mouthy.
(I never earned that badge because by my sophomore year, I was being 'mouthy' in a completely different manner)
