Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

I do wish we had a few more actually alien looking species rather than just Berman era forehead ridge/basically human designs
Yes, and truly new species, and not just new "updates" on the designs of previously seen species. It's been centuries since the events of Picard. Surely more than just a few new races have been introduced in to the mix.

I'm fine with updated species. I just need also new ones. I imagine they've visited many areas of the Alpha, beta and even Gamma quadrants by now

I'm not at all shocked that a show with a cast consisting primarily of good looking young people is making them play aliens who look mostly human anyway. Indeed, that was the rationale for the many minimal makeup design for those various Berman era aliens, we want to show-off the good looking people we've cast in these particular roles.

It just occurred to me that none of the new alien characters seem to be from a new aliens race. Everyone is mixed raced from already established aliens.

It's not like Hollywood considers casting people who aren't 'attractive' that often, sadly

I believe there are two new aliens species in it

They probably shouldn't have had two of their new alien races both start with the letter, K. Especially when you got Klingons also in the cast.
How would that helped you remember they weren’t all just “mixed raced from already established aliens”?

Well new aliens are just new. Plus it is always helps if their names are catchy. Something like the Blog-Lobs or Zunna or Martyicans. Stay away from the K's and don't go crazy with the apostrophe names.
