Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

Maybe the Klingons will now be pacifist who have given up on being a warrior culture but their is still some who hold onto the old ways and live on colonies.

I don't think the Academy series was in development that long.

Season 3 and almost all of season 4 aired before there was any word this was even going to be a show.

Academy was in development before season 3. First mention in the press is June 2018. It was part of the show development process directly after Kurtzman's 2018 5 year contract.

Well, the official announcement was in 2023, so I'm going by that. (Particularly in this case, since a series set at Starfleet Academy has been 'talked about' or 'been in development' since the 80s.)

I also still stand by my assertion that the writers of DISCO were not good enough to have that kind of foresight to keep the Klingons out of the 32nd century so it would be an open field for ACADEMY. The most likely explanation for the lack of Klingons is it was in response to the many criticisms of seasons 1 and 2, which was one of the reasons why they jumped to the 32nd century. It's not a coincidence that it's past the point of any episode aired by that point. Klingons were a big part of those seasons, so they went the exact opposite direction and didn't even mention them.

Here, let me translate that for you:

"The evidence points to the Discovery writers deliberately staying out of the SFA writers way, but I'm biased to I choose to believe they were just stupid and lucky"

I wrote what I meant.

How about having some fucking courtesy and instead of just 'translating' what someone wrote, you ask them first if that is what they meant?

DO NOT PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH!!!

UNDERSTOOD?!

Considering that soldiers make up a vast majority of a Klingon crew, it's not surprising that most Starfleet officers only encounter the soldiers.

Personally, I love seeing Klingons in other professions, as well as the soldiers. First, it's realistic. Second, broader view of them.

Like the restaurant owner in DS9 season 2. Would have loved to see him more.
