edit: Ah, just saw Turtletrekker's post on the "Leia mini." That's all news to me.

Me too, thanks Turtletrekker, will put that on the "must read list" this summer.

Here's my reaction to The Siege of Lothal:

Balancing the perfect amount of Vader (not too little, not too much) my jaw was on the floor for much of the season 2 premiere, sure it was spoiled rotten for me (us) because of the early view from Celebration... but it still landed with tremendous weight.

The two standout scenes for me were, first, the crew's initial encounter with Vader. They felt "cold." That's something we haven't heard before about being in Vader's presence (in canon, anyway). Handling the lightsaber duels was interesting too. It does look as thought Vader was toying with them - like a cat would a mouse. Although afterward Kanan mentions they were "lucky to survive," it's clear from the later transmission with Palps that Vader won't be offing them anytime soon. They will lead to The Apprentice which will lead to Kenobi and Yoda... prizes for Vader to eliminate of greater importance than the Rebel cell.

The other was the TIE advanced assault on the Rebel fleet and Phoenix Squadron. Just incredible. Didn't mind the BSG physics that Vader borrowed - keep it up. The young Star Wars fan in me was elated to see Vader mess up the entire fleet like that. I used to wonder about the last few seconds of ROTS (before its release) wondering if we'd just catch a glimpse of Vader does something bad ass - like piloting an AT-AT crushing villages or something. Instead we saw him silently standing on the bridge of a star destroyer. So to finally see what I wanted to see waaaay back in 2005, namely Vader being mean and cruel and proving why he's the most feared Sith lord in the galaxy (or meant to soon be) was total fan satisfaction without careening into the fanboi wank territory. They handled it with perfection. Sabine: "Who is this guy?" They also finally answered my long standing question - do the people of the galaxy have an idea who Vader is - and for this part of the story the answer is: no.

Some thoughts about what's to come:
  • Can't believe Ezra forgot that nearly everyone knows the big secret about his parents. He doesn't care anymore?
  • Expecting/hoping a Lando storyline takes them to Cloud City. Haven't revisited that place yet.
  • Will Ahsoka survive the series? How can she not? She's a fan favorite! Not a negative point here, but really... I can't see her getting killed off by Disney... ever. Still, when Vader finally catches up with her I feel he is going to make her suffer. Filoni's confirmed to us that Vader hates Ahsoka. Lucky for her (?) she has no idea where Obi Wan and Yoda ended up.

This seems to be a first for the 2015 Star Wars comics.
Five consecutive weeks of new releases for the core titles.

I know it wasn't a direct reference to Vader, but there was this line from Empire which I think may have inspired that little exchange: -
Luke: "There's something not right here. I feel cold... death."
Yoda: "That place is strong with the dark side of the Force. A domain of evil it is.

Interesting that they could feel that from orbit, while Vader didn't sense Kenobi on the Death Star until a while after he was aboard (even then it was pretty vague.) I don't recall Kenobi mentioning he sensed Vader was on the station when they approached. He may just have been keeping it to himself as he did draw his sabre right before he rounded the corner to meet Vader, an encounter which didn't seem to surprise him in the least.
Then of course later Luke & Vader didn't sense each other over Endor until they were literally staring at each other's ships.

I do wonder though if a trip to Tatooine or even Dagobah may be in her future. It's clear she really doesn't know who Vader really is, but there has to be something nagging at the edges of her mind and there's only two or three people with the answers and I can't see Bail being the one to volunteer anything.

On a related topic, am I the only one that wants to see Ahsoka interacting with Leia almost as much if not more than seeing her throw-down with Vader?

Star Wars #08 preview

http://www.coffeewithkenobi.com/a-v...s-lukes-first-in-the-pages-of-star-wars-no-8/

Luke Skywalker pays a visit to Coruscant — perhaps his first? — in the pages of August’s Star Wars #8, which is out Aug. 19 and features the debut of Stuart Immonen as the ongoing series’ artist. And what a debut it is! Sweeping vistas, detailed ships and amazing character development abound in the artwork that expounds on the story written by Jason Aaron.

In the story Luke, having discovered Obi-Wan’s journals, journeys to Coruscant, ostensibly to visit what remains of the Jedi Temple. Han Solo and Princess Leia are contending with the arrival of Sana Solo, as they search for a new home for the Rebel Alliance.

I didn't realize that season 2 was going to air so long after the premiere. I kept checking and checking like an idiot figuring it must eminent. Looking forward to it for sure.

The unicycle droid in AOTC offered Kenobi a "cup of joe." So, maybe?
I heard it as 'Jawa Juice'- it stood out to me because I was wondering why some obscure race on a back water planet would make a beverage which would be served on the hub planet of the Republic... - a bit too much of I tie in I thought...

Sorry, I misheard it. By the web search I made before posting, I wasn't the only one, either, which frankly is why I went ahead and posted without reviewing the scene directly. But yeah, it's Jawa juice. I hadn't paid close enough attention.

It does make sense, though - it's at Dexter's Diner, and he's the only one who knows about Kamino. I'm not surprised he knows about Jawas too.

Start thinking like that and you'll wonder why apparently every Jedi in the universe dresses like Uncle Owen.

Or-
Uncle Owen likes to dress up as a Jedi...
