Star Wars Rebels Season Three (spoilers)

I just wonder how much of that was Sidious' influence, given that he and Dooku took over the commission of the GAR.

Well, yes, naturally -- the whole reason Palpatine/Sidious orchestrated the Clone Wars was to give himself an excuse to seize ever greater power, and that included creating a justification for the manufacture of an enormous warfleet. Although, of course, he drew on resources from both sides in the wars -- things like Star Destroyers and TIEs and walkers were the descendants of Republic hardware, and Stormtroopers were an outgrowth of Clone Troopers, but Palpatine commissioned the Geonosians (on the Separatist side) to design the Death Star.

But Dooku wasn't behind the Republic army, he led the Separatist forces. Palpatine set Dooku up in the role of the enemy that he put on a public pretense of fighting against as Chancellor. (I'm not sure if Dooku even knew that "Lord Sidious" was really Palpatine, given that Sidious always appeared to him hooded.)

Back when it first came out I read some of the novelization of RoTS, and I'm pretty sure they had Palpatine giving Dooku orders as his Sith master.
Even without that, I think the look on Dooku's face when Palpatine orders Anakin to kill him could be seen as him being shocked that his master was betraying him.

Yes, but Jango was commissioned by Dooku. He didn't lead them, but that doesn't mean he didn't have input as to the design. According to the novel, Dooku's own machinations were to be the head of a entirely human Force sensitive Sith Army. Obviously, that didn't pan out, but he was aware of the clones from the beginning.

I am pretty sure Zeb mentioned "Bogan" at some point in the last season or two.

Also it would seem clear that Dooku would know who his master was, since they did meet in person, and in ROTS, it is clear he knows that Palpatine is Sideous.

Yeah, but what about parallel lines? A star is quite gigantic compared to a starship. The Sun, for example, is nearly a million and a half kilometers across. The entire Imperial blockade here was only a few kilometers wide at most.

True--but I was thinking barycenter to barycent link to hyperspace as having perfect alignment. Also--if you move away from a base--you give folks more time to hit.

If someone comes at you with something as simple as a bat--you back away--it makes things worse--the attacker gets a full swing. In everything I was ever taught--you move forward towards the threat--not as much swing time.

That sort of thing I guess.

So, the next time we see the Bendu he'll be voiced by Peter Davison?

^^ I know it's all fun and games, but if that were actually to happen, my mind would explode.. Davison is my Doctor...

Dave Filoni was the one who devised at least part of the space battle in the Finale.

That's an interesting development, and gives some credence to the origins of the Force from Legends.

As in the moons of Tython? Not necessarily. All this means is the Lasat use an ancient word for the light side of the force. Not unusual for a semi-mystic religion that apparently is older than their settling on Lasan, which they've been on so long they apparently forgot they came from Lira San to begin with. LF has mad e point of late to show that there are more force religions in the galaxy than just the Jedi and the Sith. This just seems like another example of that.

Anyone else going through serious Saturday Rebels withdrawl?

I've started a rewatch but it's gonna be such a loooong wait until September/October! Pretty much the best thing about summer ending is a new season of Rebels to look forward to. In the Northern Hemisphere, anyway. I just wish they'd release the season premiere in the summer (as they did with Siege of Lothal) so that it's not such a long wait.

I swear I'm not complaining. I'm sure many of you are old enough to remember when there were only 3 VHS tapes/laserdisc to watch and that was it for the Star Wars universe mise-en-scene (Droids, Ewoks, Ewok films and The Star Wars Christmas Special do not count)!

I wonder if we'll see any droids of the same model as K2 from R1 next season.

And since they're heading to Yavin 4, I bet we'll see Cassian.

Filloni has already said that had the timing been right, he'd have used K2's design for the Imperial Sentry droids instead of those Dark Trooper inspired designs. So it seems like there's a very strong possibility now that the movie is out.

And since they're heading to Yavin 4, I bet we'll see Cassian.

Also a strong possibility.

For me, I'm kind of in a weird limbo this weekend in which I literally have nothing to watch. Rebels has been gone for a couple of weeks, leaving my Saturday night clear. Walking Dead ended last week making my Sunday night clear. It's weird. Thankfully, next weekend Doctor Who returns, so I'll have weekend viewing again, and by the time Doctor Who ends, my summer shows should be starting up. I'm confident I can keep myself entertained while waiting for new Rebels.

Besides, as far as Star Wars content goes, Rogue One just came out for home media, the new Thrawn novel is out on Tuesday, and I'm almost certain we're getting a trailer for The Last Jedi at Star Wars Celebration.

I'd be more surprised if they didn't have Cassian on the show at some point. Especially since I'm pretty sure him and K2 are the only ones from the Rogue One main cast that haven't had anything for them outside of the movie. Krennic and Galen Erso are the main characters of the novel Catalyst, There's a YA novel about Jyn about to come out, another one about Chirrut and Baze. And Saw has already been on Rebels, not to mention the character originating from Clone Wars. I suppose Bodhi hasn't had anything outside the movie either, but you kind of have the same problem doing a pre-Rogue One story with him as you do with a pre-TFA story with Finn, they're nobodies doing menial work, which doesn't lend itself to too many exciting story possibilities.

So, yeah, I expect Cassian to show up on Rebels. In fact a story with him a Kallus working together is practically begging to be told. Maybe throw Zeb in so you can have representation from the main Ghost crew.

How close to Rogue One will next season be?
Have they said anything about the home video release yet? I'm dying to see the new season, and I'm strongly fighting to urge to just buy it, even thought I've promised myself I won't be any movies or TV shows I can get either through streaming or discs on Netflix.
