With the new trailer, it seems like the right time to start a new thread for the upcoming season. Soooo....Yeah. That was quite a lot to take in. Kanan has a beard. Sabine has a jetpack (finally!) Wedge! Y-Wings! Tie Interceptors! Battle Droids!! Dark Troopers!? The Bendu (voiced by Tom Baker!) And what else? Oh...right....THIS GUY! Spoiler: Hmm....looks familiar.... So that is a thing that happened. While I'm at it, here's some of the characters' new looks. Spoiler: new looks Still watching the panel footage, so need some time to digest it all.
That trailer is awesome. The Kanan/Maul snippet they live streamed was also cool as well. I can't wait for season 3 to start.
Super! Any word yet on when and if Ahsoka is coming back, or is that being kept up their sleeves for now?
I am so used to Marc Thompson's awesome voice, from the audiobooks, as the Admiral that this just doesn't sound right. But I have no doubt that I'll get used to this too and the trailer looks great overall.
In an interview at Celebration Filoni said initial plans were to have her no longer appear, but due to fan reaction you never know or something along those lines. I think it's part of the interview from yesterday that is transcribed on starwars.com
I note Sabine now has a space owl painted on her shoulder pad. From a meta perspective, I'd say that was a tribute to Ahsoka, but I'm not sure if that tracks exactly in-universe since only we the audience are aware of the correlation. Filloni mentioned in the Ahsoka panel yesterday that while before he thought with the season 2 finale that he was done with Ahsoka, the fan reaction since has *maybe* changed his mind and *maybe* they're not quite done with her quite yet. So don't get your hopes up or anything, but it's absolutely 100% going to happen.

Wow, this show just keeps getting better and better. I really hope I can remember to watch the reairings on the original Disney Channel. I managed to watch most of Season 1 and a handful of Season 2 episodes that way. They never really promote the reairings, so I tend to forget to look for them. The only times I saw it was when I just happened to stumble across them in TV Guide.

OK, let's see if we can go though this thing shot by shot: - Lucasfilm logo: Snap-hiss. Vader breath. Ezra calls Ahsoka's name. Kanan meditating on Atollon, paying no mind to the dokma crawling all over him. (More connected to the living force?) Seems as though Ezra is hiding the Sith holocron in his helmet collection. (Didn't occur to me until now that Kanan might not know he has it at first.) Some of he Ezra, green saber action we saw the other day. "What if there are secrets we can learn from it that'll help us destroy the Sith?" (apparently Ezra wasn't at the council of Elrond. ) Distorted voice, similar to Fulcrum's, using Ahsoka's symbol and giving them intel on Imperial defectors. (I'm calling it right now: that's Agent Kallus's voice) "This is Tie SS-25. You can call me Wedge" (Yay!) Spoiler: Welcome to the rebellion! (Am I crazy, or does that look like a close relation of Sabine in the middle, next to Wedge? Also the one on the right looks familiar.) Spoiler: Y-Wings! (Does this mean that Hondo indirectly contributed to the destruction of the Death Star!? Also, Y-Wings and functioning battle droids? Is this place a salvage yard or a museum?) Spoiler: More familiar ships. A YT-2400, piloted by NOT Dash Rendar (thank goodness!) Explosions! Jumping! Punching...a Scout Trooper! Flying Mandalorian Imperial Supercommandos?! Spoiler: No old concepts are wasted! Chopper has a new ride (I'll get back to that) Seems like they'll be pairing up Ezra and Sabine more and more often. Fen Rau? (I think it's him anyway) Blasting! Explosions! Walkers! A familiar looking shuttle design. (I'll get back to this too.) Jetpacks! Kicking! Mando-respect. Oh, the Phantom is in trouble. (I'll get back to that...pssst, spot the pattern emerging? ) Speak of the devil, seems as though the Ghost is getting a new toy--I mean replacement shuttle! Spoiler: I told you I'd get back to these Imperial battle droids that in no way remind me of a 90's video game starring Kyle Katarn. Spoiler: Anyone got a spare Assault Cannon? (I lied, they totally remind me of Dark Troopers.) Hondo and Azmorigan make such a cute couple. New Imperial Governor. Also, Tarkin has a model Venator on his wall. Some blue guy nobody's heard of. Cham's cell may not make it to Yavin. This unknown urbane art lover appears to have a knack for deadly strategy. Ominous music. Blue skin? Red Eyes? Lizards on his shoulders? (though not really) Spoiler: Totally new character the fans will instantly hate. I kid. Clearly Cad Bane has finally ditched the hat and got himself a new tailor. ...what? I'm sorry, Who's Grand Admiral Thrawn Karabast? Shoulder mounted Space Owl of Ominous Foreshadowing! Spoiler: The Soofs are now breaking the fourth wall! (Calling it right now, Sabine is loosing an arm. The Owls are never wrong.) Rockets! More explosions! Maul! Green ghosty thing. (Gatekeeper of the Sith Holocron, or is Talzin making a comeback?) Holocron porn. Nasty, Also, Tom Baker. Spoiler: First Ashla, now Bendu. How long before Bogan shows up? (This guy was on Atollon this whole time? Is he going to teach Kanan to Spirit Bend, or is he looking for the Empress's Ivory Tower?) More blasting! More lightsabers! More punching! "You watched it, you can't unwatch it!! "Your anger gives you strength." (says the long dead Sith Lord) Action! Excitement! Darksabre! Green spirit possession eyes! Don't cross the holocrons! (Important safety tip)
Sometimes they will let people who don't have the network watch their shows, so I figured it was worth a try.
Thought I'd have a closer look at Thrawn's little holo-gallery. From left to right: - Looks like a Mandalorian Neo-Crusader. Possibly the same depiction glimpsed at in the Sidious/Maul fight in TCW. Ezra's academy mugshot. Pretty sure this is the Lasat cosmology art from season 2. Can't recall exactly where I've seen this before but it's familiar. Clearly Sabine's work though. A Syndulla family portrait done as a mosaic. What appears to be the seemingly primitive art seen on the walls of the Lothal Jedi Temple. Also of note: Thrawn appears to have what looks like a section of wall from Lothal with Sabine's starbird tag and on the desk is a Jedi temple guard's helmet, the artefact he's seen holding in another shot (I'm guessing it's Lasat) and there's a bust of something that I don't rightly recognise. Clearly he's focusing his studies on the Ghost crew and given that in the novels his MO was using a people's art to understand their psychology, Sabine may be in particular trouble since she's probably left him the most material to use against her.
