Star Wars Clone Wars Season 2 trailer

Yeah, I just feel like the Clone Wars and the prequel era has been done to death. I want to see something new -- what happens between Episode III and Episode IV, for starters.

How much more ground is there really left to cover?
Considering the success of season 1 (on a both a popularity and critical level) and the richly populated trailer for season 2, it's obvious that there is still *plenty* of ground to cover.

More importantly, Clone Wars often tells its stories with a great deal of craft -- from character development to visuals.

Though, admittedly, even though she improved over the first season, the weakest link of the series is Ahsoka.

That's not the issue. The issue is we've already had one cartoon series, several video games, multiple novels, and the better part of three years' worth of comic books all devoted to the Clone Wars. How much more ground is there really left to cover?

What if you don't buy comics, play video games or waste your time on garbage novels?

That's the live action television series coming next year. Should be amazing!

It's never been in danger of not being made. They're just focusing on the Clone Wars cartoon first. I believe the writing staff has already been hired or is in the process of being hired.

Since everything that happens in Star Wars is considered canon unless specifically stated otherwise, then you lose out on a lot of story. :techman:

^ Well technically canon, unless Lucas doesn't like it or changes his mind after the fact.

I'm still expecting Luke to run into Ahsoka...

Luckily, most of that story is dull, uninvolving and uninteresting, from what I've seen. Plus GL has confirmed that the essential SW story is told in the 6 movies.

Having said that, I liked the previous CW series and this CGI one seems good from the bits I've seen. I'll probably pick it up on DVD at some stage. But the godawful post-Jedi novels for me are just unreadable - though the prequel-era ones are somewhat better (not that that would be hard).

I think Lucas's feelings on the EU are pretty clear:

"I've left pretty explicit instructions for there not to be any more features. There will definitely be no Episodes VII-IX. That's because there isn't any story. I mean, I never thought of anything. And now there have been novels about the events after Episode VI, which isn't at all what I would have done with it. The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story. Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married..."

"I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if I come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions."

NX funny you should mention your thoughts about Luke running into Ahsoka...for some reason I feel like she's going to survive the Clone Wars or be lost in one of the last battles and this is the reason we're going to get why Anakin doesn't mention her in Episode III (outside the obvious on screen explaination that she didn't exist yet). After all Ventres is still out there as well. Are we still on track for a 100 episodes or if this exceeds popularity will Lucas change his mind and give Dave Faloni permission to continue it?
